SUMMARY:Embedding Intersectionality in Programs and Policy Design
DESCRIPTION:Move Beyond Theory. Design for Real Impact.\n\n\n\n\nThis session is designed for practitioners who already have a foundational understanding of intersectionality and are asking: what does this actually look like in practice? Whether you work in program design\, policy\, or implementation\, this session will equip you with the tools to create more inclusive\, equitable\, and effective interventions. \nCo-hosted by Cooperation Canada and facilitated by Kareema Batal\, the workshop offers a thoughtful\, practical space to examine your current approaches\, uncover gaps\, and strengthen your work. You’ll engage with real-world development challenges\, reflect on your own practice\, and learn alongside peers facing similar complexities. \nRather than staying at the level of theory\, this session focuses on application. You’ll leave with concrete strategies to identify blind spots\, mitigate unintended harm\, and design programs that better reflect the realities of the communities you serve. \n\n\n\n\n\nWhat You’ll Gain \n\nPractical ways to apply intersectional thinking to your programs and policies\nTools to identify hidden gaps\, blindspots and unintended consequences in your work\nApproaches to designing work that is more responsive to lived realities\nNew perspectives on dominant development frameworks—including alternatives to FIAP—through a justice lens\n\nAll learning is grounded in a clear objective: helping you move from understanding intersectionality to actively applying it in your day-to-day work. \nThis training is ideal for professionals working across the development sector\, including: \n\nProgram managers and officers\nPolicy advisors\nGender equality and inclusion specialists\nMonitoring\, Evaluation\, and Learning (MEL) professionals\nAnyone involved in designing or implementing development programs\n\nFormat:  \n\nPre-learning: Short recorded videos shared in advance\nLive session: A 3-hour interactive virtual workshop (Zoom)\n\nLearning experience: Breakout discussions\, case studies\, and collaborative exercises \nParticipation fee: $20 per participant. \nAttend here!
