SUMMARY:Building Mutual Economic Partnerships
DESCRIPTION:The global economic landscape has accelerated efforts by governments around the world to strengthen economic resilience\, diversify partnerships\, and secure access to strategic markets and supply chains. Countries are reassessing long-standing assumptions about development\, trade\, economic security\, and international cooperation\, as reflected in the G7 leaders’ declaration of June 20261. At the same time\, many emerging economies are calling for partnerships that extend beyond traditional aid relationships to include trade\, investment\, innovation\, skills\, and technology collaboration. \nIn Canada\, these shifts have prompted renewed discussion about the role of international assistance within a broader economic\, trade\, and foreign policy agenda. Recent speeches and policy directions have emphasized the importance of building mutual economic partnerships that deliver sustainable development outcomes while also supporting Canada’s long-term trade\, investment\, workforce\, and supply chain interests\, including the goal of doubling non-US exports within the next decade. \nThis public event\, co-hosted by Aga Khan Foundation Canada and the International Development Research Centre (IDRC)\, will consider Canada’s role in building partnerships that respond to global challenges while creating opportunities for both Canada and its international partners. It will uncover how mutual economic partnerships can contribute to shared prosperity\, while examining the opportunities\, challenges\, and trade-offs associated with this evolving agenda. \nAdditional information for attendees: \n\nWhen you register\, please indicate your interest in attending in-person at the Delegation of the Ismaili Imamat or attending online (Zoom) by selecting the relevant ticket option.\nNetworking/Refreshments: In-person attendees are encouraged to participate in an informal networking session and enjoy refreshments after the panels.\nPlease note that this event will offer English and French interpretation.\n\nQuestions? Contact akfc.events@akdn.org \nAttend here!
