SUMMARY:Access to health: Strengthening transparency\, accountability and inclusion in service delivery
DESCRIPTION:Part of the Inclusive Service Delivery Africa (ISDA) project \nCorruption and discrimination are major obstacles to achieving sustainable and inclusive development. They fuel inequalities in accessing essential services\, reduce public resources and create barriers to effectively allocate money for education and healthcare. For women\, girls and groups most at risk of discrimination\, the impacts are significant\, as corruption worsens existing disparities and widens the development gap. \nOn March 5\, Transparency International Canada and CanWaCH will be hosting a crucial discussion on corruption and discrimination\, highlighting progress in improving access to health services for women\, girls and marginalized communities. The session will bring together representatives from Inclusive Service Delivery Africa (ISDA) chapters and guests working in the field. Join us as they share updates\, discuss challenges\, and explore practical approaches to strengthening transparency\, accountability and inclusion in health service delivery.  \nThe 90-minute discussion\, including a period for Q&A\, will start at 9 a.m. EST.  \nIn-person participation in Toronto is limited. If you are interested in attending in person\, please let us know as soon as possible by sending an email to ti-can@transparencycanada.ca.  \nRegister for the Zoom webinar!  \nAbout ISDA \nInclusive Service Delivery Africa (ISDA) is a four-year project funded by Global Affairs Canada and implemented across Madagascar\, Zimbabwe\, Rwanda\, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Ghana\, working with Transparency International chapters to address governance-related barriers to access in education and health care.

SUMMARY:Policies and best practices to prevent sexual exploitation\, abuse and harassment: Lessons from the global health sector
DESCRIPTION:Join us to close the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence with a practical discussion on how global health and humanitarian organizations can strengthen policies and practices to prevent sexual exploitation\, abuse and harassment (PSEAH). Grounded in the recognition of the inherent power imbalances that exist in our sector and in the way our programs operate\, this session will examine how organizations can more intentionally address these dynamics in their safeguarding approaches. \nBuilding on the momentum of Cooperation Canada’s Leaders’ Pledge on Preventing and Addressing Sexual Misconduct\, we will explore what effective safeguarding looks like specifically in the global health sector — from essential policy elements and survivor-centered reporting mechanisms to the real-world challenges organizations face when implementing these standards across diverse contexts. \nDate and time: Wednesday\, December 10 at 1 p.m. EST \nRegister for the practical discussion

SUMMARY:Co-créer l’avenir de la santé sexuelle et reproductive et de la santé maternelle\, néonatale et infantile: Dialogues entre recherche et acteurs de terrain
DESCRIPTION:*This event will be hosted in French only / Cet événement sera uniquement en français \nMalgré des objectifs communs\, les collaborations entre les différents acteurs de terrain tels que les OSC et les milieux de recherche restent souvent fragmentées ou déséquilibrées dans le secteur de la santé mondiale\, plus particulièrement en matière de santé sexuelle et reproductive et de santé maternelle\, néonatale et infantile.

SUMMARY:Disappearing Data: Implications and Actions for Global Health in a New Era - Webinar 2
DESCRIPTION:The data landscape is changing. In February 2025\, the Demographic Health Survey (DHS) Program\, a major source of demographic and health data in many countries\, saw its funding discontinued. This means that the program no longer enables new data collection\, funds data analyses\, publishes reports\, facilitates dissemination activities\, or supports capacity strengthening efforts in more than 25 countries globally. Increasingly\, partners are wondering about the vulnerability of global health data sources\, at the same time as there are increasing concerns about data privacy and how information may be used. In response\, CanWaCH is hosting a two-part discussion series\, which will be followed by a collection of resources and tools for partners interested in and affected by these changes. \nThis webinar will zoom out to present the larger demographic health data landscape and ecosystem. This will include an overview of what remains from the DHS Program\, and how gaps might be addressed. External guest speakers will be invited to share their perspectives on how demographic health data systems might be reimagined\, focused on themes of cost efficiencies\, data quality\, sustainability and local ownership. This conversation will build on the June 11th webinar and support members to identify relevant next steps. \nAttend here!

DESCRIPTION:CanWaCH is starting the year with our second members virtual coffee chat! \nHeld on February 12\, 2025 at 1 p.m. EST\, it will focus on community engagement for gender equality. During the coffee chat\, participants can join one of three breakout rooms\, each with a specific focus: partnering with youth and youth-led organizations\, working with faith and community leaders or engaging with men and boys. (You can switch rooms anytime during the session!) \nAt CanWaCH\, we are dedicated to creating a welcoming environment for experts to gather\, share challenges and best practices\, and exchange knowledge. Open to all CanWaCH members and partners\, Coffee Chats provide an informal setting for members to connect and discuss their work\, challenges\, and best practices on a specific\, predetermined topic. There are no expectations from participants other than being ready to engage by sharing about your work\, listening\, and learning from each other. \nAfter signing up\, you will receive a calendar invite and a link to a Google Doc where you can share questions\, reflections\, and resources before the discussion. On the date\, join the conversation! CanWaCH will facilitate\, but we ask you to take an active role by sharing your thoughts\, work\, challenges\, and best practices on the topic and questions raised by others. \nAttend here!

SUMMARY:Reimagining Partnerships: Collaborating with the Private Sector to Achieve the SDGs
DESCRIPTION:Amid a shifting economic and geopolitical landscape\, private sector partnerships could emerge as a key trend for 2025 and beyond. Effective collaborations between the non-profit and private sectors can play a crucial role in advancing global health and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Yet\, current private sector metrics tend to focus primarily on the financial contributions rather than social impact. At the same time\, the diversity of the private sector and assumptions often make non-profits hesitant to engage. \nThis webinar will challenge traditional perceptions\, spotlight unique ways the private sector can support NGOs\, and present practical\, innovative examples of how mutually beneficial partnerships can thrive. \nSpeakers: \n\nCaitlin McKay\, Lucky Iron Life\nAdrienne Jack\, Cowater International\nRobin Darcy\, Alinea\nMegan Dover\, Cross Border Impact Ventures\n\nAttend here!
