SUMMARY:Where is the anaemia target for young children? The missing WHA nutrition target. Perspectives on home fortification for children under five
DESCRIPTION:The Nutrition for Growth Summit is an opportunity to define a clear vision for where donors and countries need to invest to eliminate malnutrition. Our solution-focused virtual side events will look at what nutrition priorities should be to drive country-led\, evidence-based\, fully financed nutrition programs for the future. \nHosted by the Home Fortification Technical Advisory Group – co-chaired by Nutrition International and UNICEF – this event will dive into why it’s imperative for planners\, speakers and donors at N4G to call for the World Health Assembly to set anaemia targets for infants and young children and promote investment in evidence-based interventions to improve the iron status of young children. This event will include valuable participation from the Nutrition Scaling Working Group. \nRegister here.

SUMMARY:Essential nutrition interventions and the prevention of NCDs in later life – Results from the Nutrition International / Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health IGNITE collaboration
DESCRIPTION:Co-hosted by the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Nutrition International\, this event will present new evidence and impact pathways linking maternal nutrition interventions to the prevention of non-communicable diseases in the life of a child. These new findings help to deepen the evidence base for “double duty” actions that address both undernutrition and overnutrition\, and to strengthen the case for investing in nutrition as part of the Universal Health Care agenda. \nRegister here.

SUMMARY:Canadian Conference on Global Health: Rethinking partnership paradigms in global health
DESCRIPTION:The 27th annual Canadian Conference for Global Health calls for a shift in partnership paradigms in global health in order to achieve the complex and integrated social\, health and environmental goals set out in the SDGs. \nWhile there are many paradigms for partnership\, CCGH 2021 will provide a platform to highlight different partnership models at local\, national and international levels and understand how they contribute to equitable and sustainable outcomes. Specifically\, how have partnerships demonstrated tangible improvements to health and how they have facilitated the spread of social\, health and environmental improvements? How do partnerships impact the lives of those that work within them and how do they benefit other organizations or communities outside of the partnership? \nRegistration is available in two formats: \nIn-Person\nThe CCGH will accept a limited number of people in person at the Delta Hotel in Ottawa. The number of in-person attendees will depend on public health guidelines. At this time we will accept 85 registrations and any further will be waitlisted. Note that due to the limited number of spaces we will only be offering full registration for in-person delegates. \nCOVID-19 Note: In-person attendees will be asked at check-in to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination OR provide proof of a negative COVID-19 antigen test taken within 48 hours. \nVirtual\nThe CCGH will offer virtual registration for the hybrid program to an unlimited number of people. \nScholarships\nScholarships are offered that are intended to encourage the participation of people with lived experience and support representation from disadvantaged and under-represented communities\, as well as people working in Community-Based Organizations whose work is focused on supporting these communities – see if you qualify! All content of the CCGH will be archived for registered delegates for 3 months post-event. \nStudent and Young Professional Scholarships\nThe Canadian Association for Global Health (CCGH) is pleased to offer a limited number of scholarships to attend this year’s CCGH virtually. The scholarships will be awarded to eligible CAGH members to cover the cost of registration for online participation. \nApplication deadline: October 31\, 2021\, at 11:59 pm EST. The review team will provide applicants with a decision on their application by November 5\, 2021\, at 5:00 pm EST. Please note that only successful applicants will be contacted. If you have further questions\, please e-mail sypcoordinator@cagh-acsm.org \nRegistration is now open\nPlease complete the form below to register for the Canadian Conference on Global Health. SUMMARY:Towards a More Equal Future – The Role of Gender Equality in Ending Malnutrition by 2030
DESCRIPTION:COVID-19 has exposed gaps in nutrition efforts that have always required a shift in gendered power dynamics and decision-making. Put simply\, good nutrition cultivates gender equality\, and gender equality cultivates good nutrition. We must make gender equality the central catalyst\, to sustainably improve nutrition and access to affordable healthy diets for all. \nJoin host Femi Oke\, World Vision\, as well as partners Standing Together for Nutrition\, Scaling Up Nutrition\, Save the Children\, CARE\, and Nutrition International as we look at how gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls are central parts of building back better. The event will reflect on the key gender wins from the UN Food System Summit and spotlight Member States who have risen to the challenge of prioritizing gender equality within their commitments and action plans.

SUMMARY:Global Health Students and Young Professionals Summit
DESCRIPTION:The theme of this year’s Global Health Students and Young Professionals Summit (GHSYP) Summit is Ideas to Impact: Toolbox Talks: Practical Skills for Becoming Global Health Professionals. \nThis year’s GHSYPS aims to prepare attendees for becoming emergent health professionals by introducing applicable skills grounded in equity-centered practices. Some skills that attendees may explore include project implementation\, conducting evaluations\, community building and knowledge translation. Key learning outcomes for GHSYPS 2021 will revolve around addressing health disparities in three urgent global health topics: planetary health\, marginalized communities. Leading experts and outstanding Students and Young Professionals (SYPs) will question the upcoming global health challenges of our time and current Canadian projects in global health. Participants will be challenged to think about how to best leverage their skills\, seek out professional development opportunities\, and become agents of change in an ever diversifying and multidisciplinary global health sphere. The GHSYPs Summit aims to provide a space for SYPs involved or interested in the global health field to connect\, network\, engage\, and be inspired. \nThe 2021 Global Health Students and Young Professionals Summit will take place online on November 27th\, 2021.
