SUMMARY:Who has power? Agency in Development and Justice
DESCRIPTION:Join World Renew\, Citizens for Public Justice (CPJ)\, and International Justice Mission (IJM) Canada on February 7 at Redeemer University. Learn how our programs are removing barriers to agency and contributing to holistic community development. \nInspired by our faith\, we believe that our international development activities must acknowledge and honour the unique image of God in each person involved. In relation to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals\, this means that all efforts must continue to centre the agency of the individuals and communities most impacted by injustice and inequality. \n– World Renew as a Sponsorship Agreement Holder with the Canadian government\, will be highlighting its experience partnering with individuals and Constituent Groups across Canada to support refugees overseas to resettle in Canada.\n– IJM seeks to end the everyday violences that violates human rights and prevents sustainable development. IJM will highlight why every intervention to combat human trafficking\, forced labour\, sexual abuse\, and gender-based violence must be trauma-informed and survivor-led.\n– CPJ as a national policy advocacy organization works to center public justice in policy debates. CPJ will highlight how its work on refugee and migrant rights – such as campaigns to end immigration detention and securing healthcare access for all regardless of immigration status – aims to strengthen the agency of those who migrate or seek asylum in Canada. \nClick here to register!
