SUMMARY:Nature-Based Solutions\, Climate Resilience\, and the SDGs
DESCRIPTION:From mangrove forests in coastal villages to green roofs on city skyscrapers\, nature-based solutions are one of the most powerful – and most underutilized – approaches to mitigate and adapt to climate change. By protecting\, restoring\, and sustainably managing ecosystems\, nature-based solutions offer the potential to reduce climate related risks and address the biodiversity crisis\, while delivering social and economic benefits to those living within these ecosystems. \nOn June 23\, Aga Khan Foundation Canada is pleased to host Nature-based Solutions\, Climate Resilience\, and the SDGs\, welcoming a panel of experienced practitioners who aim to reduce climate risks\, advance climate resilience\, and support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Panelists will discuss the imperative of using nature-based solutions to address climate change and biodiversity loss and share examples of ongoing initiatives and available resources that organizations can draw on to strengthen their own work in this area. \nIn addition to the panel discussion\, participants will be invited to participate in breakout groups led by the speakers. These breakout groups will provide the opportunity to discuss the policy considerations\, opportunities\, and challenges of using nature-based solutions in development projects aimed at mitigating and adapting to climate change. \nKey Information for Attendees \n\nWhen you register\, please indicate your interest to attend in-person at the Delegation of the Ismaili Imamat or to attend online (Zoom) by selecting the relevant ticket option.\nPlease note that a proof of vaccination will be required to join in person.\nIn-person attendees are welcome to arrive by 8:40am\, to network and enjoy light refreshments.\n\nEvent Format/Breakout Sessions \nThe event will include breakout sessions with each panelist focusing on implementation and/or policy. \n\nIn person participants will be welcome to join a breakout session with Patricia Fuller or Jimena Eyzaguirre.\nOnline participants will be welcome to join a breakout session with Didier Van Bignoot or Benjamin Simmons.\nPlease specify your preference for breakout sessions as you fill out the registration form. Space in each session is limited. While we will work to accommodate all preferences\, we may shift participants if a session is oversubscribed.\n\nThis event will be offered in English only.  Questions? SUMMARY:13th International Conference on the Maternal Child Health Handbook
DESCRIPTION:The 13th International Conference on the Maternal & Child Health (MCH) Handbook promotes health equity and aims to bring the health of mothers and their children to the forefront as\, too often\, social barriers make mothers feel invisible. MCH Handbook is a home-based health record and information tool which supports women throughout their pregnancy\, delivery\, and the postnatal period\, along with the first few years of their children’s lives. Aside from being a source of information\, the MCH Handbook strives to empower parents by strengthening communication between them and health professionals and encouraging them to be actively involved in decision-making and management of their family’s health. \nDuring the COVID-19 pandemic\, global maternal and fetal outcomes worsened\, with rises in maternal deaths\, stillbirths\, and maternal depression. Overall\, the pandemic has highlighted an urgent need to prioritize accessible and equitable maternal care. \nThe primary objectives of this conference are to: \n\nAdvocate for social cohesion through equitable holistic maternal and child care around the globe\nPromote the implementation of the MCH Handbook as a global standard tool\nSupport the needs of underprivileged families\, including refugees\, migrants\, and ethnic minorities\n\nOverall\, this conference is an opportunity to reflect on the impact of COVID-19 on the implementation and use of the MCH Handbook and identify future trajectories and strategies to ensure the program’s success. We gladly invite healthcare professionals\, researchers\, policymakers\, students\, and anyone passionate about improving maternal and child care\, to attend\, share experience and learn more about how we are striving to make mothers visible. \nRegister here

SUMMARY:The International Conference on Family Planning
DESCRIPTION:Since the first ICFP in Kampala\, Uganda in 2009\, the International Conference on Family Planning (ICFP) has served as a strategic inflection point for the global reproductive health community\, providing a global stage for countries\, organizations\, and individuals to make important commitments and celebrate achievements as the world’s largest scientific conference on family planning and reproductive health. \nICFP has become much more than a conference – it has grown into a platform for researchers\, advocates\, governments and communities; a movement towards achieving access to family planning for all; and a growing community guided by the spirit of partnership\, inclusivity\, innovation and scientific rigor. \nAs the larger family planning community looks “beyond 2020” to realign our goals and reposition for the future of family planning\, ICFP 2022 will be a strategic benchmark as the community prepares to recommit to a goal of universal access by 2030. \n\nRegister here

SUMMARY:Canadian Conference on Global Health 2022
DESCRIPTION:The uncertainty of conflict\, climate change\, economic and/or financial crises and pandemics\, continues to call for attention and resources that will redress the inequities that exist along the continuum from local to global\, within and between countries. \nThe COVID-19 global pandemic has upended life for people everywhere and has highlighted the dramatic uncertainty of our times. Pandemic experiences have exacerbated the negative and differential impacts of already unpredictable environmental\, political\, social\, and funding landscapes. Health inequities and exclusion remain deeply entrenched in our systems. With growing calls to decolonize global health and attention paid to equity\, diversity and inclusion\, global health researchers and practitioners must channel attention towards inclusive rebuilding. How do we achieve meaningful inclusion in our research and practice in ways that will advance global health while creating and promoting opportunities for authentic partnerships and diverse leadership? How is inclusion considered and reflected while building stronger\, decolonized spaces? \nThe uncertainties that emerge from climate change\, poverty and growing inequalities and health emergencies have pervasive impacts on communities and people who are already marginalized and disadvantaged. The impacts of such uncertainties reverberate across societies and are experienced in all countries around the world. \nThe 28th Canadian Conference on Global Health (CCGH 2022) will be held from November 21-23 2022 at the Hilton Toronto in downtown Toronto\, and will provide a platform to revisit and re-envision policies\, strategies\, and practices with the aim of identifying barriers and bottlenecks that may hinder attainment of inclusive global health and Universal Health Coverage goals. The CCGH will be presented in a hybrid format and offer both in-person and virtual access. \nCCGH 2022 theme: Towards Inclusive Global Health: Research and Practice Priorities in Uncertain Times \nREGISTER HERE!
