DESCRIPTION:Toute personne qui souhaite mener une démarche de plaidoyer ou d’influence pour agir sur les déterminants sociaux de la santé\, peu importe sa profession ou son milieu de travail : ministère\, organisation non gouvernementale\, réseau de la santé\, association\, ordre professionnel\, organisme communautaire\, etc. \nDescription\nLe plaidoyer est une compétence clé en promotion de la santé et une stratégie puissante pour agir sur l’équité en santé.\nLe webinaire offert en juin 2022 par le REFIPS a permis de présenter un outil d’aide à la pratique du plaidoyer pour la santé\, de reconsidérer certains mythes à son sujet et d’inspirer les participants et participantes à passer à l’action. SUMMARY:Navigating Uncertainty in Human Development
DESCRIPTION:On a global scale\, uncertainty has taken on many faces – the war in Ukraine\, a decline in the global Human Development Index\, economic instability\, and climate disasters\, among others – which is leading to a myriad of disruptions in day-to-day living. \nAs stated within the 2021-2022 UNDP Human Development Report\, “The hero and the villain in today’s uncertainty story are one in the same: human choice.” How can our continued choices influence our world of tomorrow? \nAs part of Canada’s International Development Week\, AKFC and Cooperation Canada are hosting an event centered on moving forward in uncertainty. The 2021-2022 UNDP Human Development Report will serve as the basis for an important discussion amongst policy makers and senior leaders in international development\, on uncertainty and the responsibilities we all have in advancing human development. \nMr. Pedro Conceição\, Head of the Human Development Report Office and Lead Author of the report\, will deliver a keynote address to highlight the key themes of the report\, followed by his participation in a panel discussion. DESCRIPTION:Children Believe’s virtual panel will spotlight the issue of youth employability and highlight the achievements of the nearly completed 4-year EMPUJE Project: Closing the Gender Gap in Youth Employability. \nEMPUJE is based on a validated youth employment model focused on two main areas: improving the preparation and potential for employment or entrepreneurship for youth\, in particular young girls and women\, and improving the provision of professional training services for youth at technology centres\, with a gender focus\, and in youth-friendly and safe learning environments. \nHear from youth and experts in this field about what works at scale for youth employability and how important it is to focus on reaching and supporting girls and young women. The history of Black Canadians is an\nparticularly diverse one – from the story of Black Canadians in Africville\, to the wave of African\n& Caribbean migrants that arrived in Canada over the course of the 60s and 80s\, and now at\npresent day – the history of revolution and resistance is a recurring theme that is prevalent\namongst Black communities. This Black History Month not only are we taking a moment to\nexplore our past\, but we are also taking the time to celebrate the work of contemporary Black\nscholars\, activists\, and leaders from our local communities. \nDilaye Desta will be moderating this discussion &; will go through a series of questions that\nhighlight our panelists & views and the passion behind their work. We will hear about the\nhistorical context of resistance movements in Canada and how their work ties into community\nactivism and revolution in contemporary society.
