SUMMARY:Empowered Worldview: Evidence of Faith-based Programming on Mindsets and Child Well-being in Rural Tanzania
DESCRIPTION:Can faith-based mindset shifts improve child health outcomes? Join World Vision Canada and the Joint Learning Initiative on Faith & Local Communities to explore new evidence from a multi-year\, mixed-methods study on the Empowered Worldview program\, highlighting its impacts on hope\, self-efficacy and well-being in rural Tanzania. \nFrom 2019 to 2024\, World Vision International partnered with researchers from the University of Alberta and the Ifakara Health Institute in Tanzania to study the impact of the Empowered Worldview (EWV) program\, a faith-based behaviour change model that fosters spiritual renewal and mindset transformation. Conducted in two rural districts in Tanzania\, this mixed-methods research tested the EWV Theory of Change. \nProgram leaders\, along with researchers from the University of Alberta\, will present qualitative and quantitative insights\, highlighting the EWV model’s positive influence on hope\, self-efficacy\, self-reliance and child well-being. The event will also examine how faith\, household income and food security shaped participants’ experiences of change. \n“Empowered Worldview is a fascinating instance of how spiritual renewal can be paired with livelihood transformation as people build better futures for their children and their communities” ~ Dr. Amy Kaler\, University of Alberta\, Professor of Sociology

SUMMARY:Disappearing Data: Implications and Actions for Global Health in a New Era - Webinar 1
DESCRIPTION:The data landscape is changing. In February 2025\, the Demographic Health Survey (DHS) Program\, a major source of demographic and health data in many countries\, saw its funding discontinued. This means that the program no longer enables new data collection\, funds data analyses\, publishes reports\, facilitates dissemination activities\, or supports capacity strengthening efforts in more than 25 countries globally. Increasingly\, partners are wondering about the vulnerability of global health data sources\, at the same time as there are increasing concerns about data privacy and how information may be used. In response\, CanWaCH is hosting a two-part discussion series\, which will be followed by a collection of resources and tools for partners interested in and affected by these changes. \nThis webinar will focus on contextualizing the impacts and implications of the DHS termination and discuss actions that stakeholders are taking or could take to ensure the availability and reliability of global health data. Concerns about data preservation and access will also be explored. The session will be both informational and an opportunity for CanWaCH members and partners to share insights and discuss possible actions related to global health data. \nAttend here!

SUMMARY:Reproductive Justice without Borders
DESCRIPTION:Get ready for an important conversation! We’ll give you more details later – are you ready! \n\nAcross the Americas\, reproductive justice movements are built not just through protests or policy win but through the everyday\, behind-the-scenes labor of organizers\, researchers\, and communities working across borders. \n\nIn Latin America\, this work is rooted in decades of transnational feminist dialogue. VITAL is documenting those strategies—so that we can learn from each other\, strengthen our movements\, and build justice that lasts. \n\nWe will have simultaneous interpretation in English and Spanish. \nAttend here!
