SUMMARY:Essential nutrition interventions and the prevention of NCDs in later life – Results from the Nutrition International / Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health IGNITE collaboration
DESCRIPTION:Co-hosted by the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Nutrition International\, this event will present new evidence and impact pathways linking maternal nutrition interventions to the prevention of non-communicable diseases in the life of a child. These new findings help to deepen the evidence base for “double duty” actions that address both undernutrition and overnutrition\, and to strengthen the case for investing in nutrition as part of the Universal Health Care agenda. \nRegister here.

SUMMARY:Accelerating Global Efforts to Reduce Gender-Based Violence: Unleashing the influence of the church and other faith-based organizations to address the hidden pandemic
DESCRIPTION:Increasingly\, governments and multilateral agencies including the UN are recognizing the church and religious organizations as critical partners in addressing GBV. \nOn the eve of this year’s 16 days of activism\, join World Renew & the CRCNA for the launch of a GBV advocacy guide and a 45-minute dialogue on how concerted efforts to address GBV can be strengthened by tapping on the influence of the church and other faith-based organizations. \nOur Keynote speaker will be Dr.Elaine Storkey\, a globally renowned author and theologian on Gender and Gender-Based Violence. Elaine was the president of Tearfund UK for 17 years where she focused on the issues women face across the world. She has authored award-winning books\, including Scars Across Humanity: Understanding and Overcoming Violence Against Women\, published in 2015. We will also hear from World Renew’s co-directors and other International development actors. \n(Guests are invited to stay for an extra 30 minutes Q&A with Dr. Elaine at the end).
