SUMMARY:6th Annual Global Health Conference
DESCRIPTION:About the conference\nGlobal Surgery: Addressing a Neglected Health Crisis\nThe Global Health Conference is an annual event bringing together a community of students\, trainees\, clinicians\, researchers\, and faculty from across health professions and disciplines to share knowledge. This year\, our focus is to bring attention to the often overlooked challenges in global surgical care\, addressing issues from care inequalities to the impact of education and training on building surgical capacity. We will explore how these factors specifically affect the care of children and women worldwide. Our goal is to create an inclusive discussion forum for anyone interested in global health and surgery – everyone is welcome to attend. \nThis is a hybrid event with both in-person and virtual options\, but of course we highly encourage you to attend in-person! Coffee and a catered lunch will be provided for all in-person attendees. She is recognized as a global surgery expert\, because of her research contributions on caesarean sections. She is an advocate for women’s health rights\, and equity in surgical and maternal care. She is an advisor and consultant to several institutions\, including the World Health Organization. SUMMARY:ARC Hub BIPOC Staff/Leadership Roundtable for Canadian International Cooperation Sector
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an empowering and inclusive virtual gathering designed exclusively for Black\, Indigenous\, and racialised (BIPOC) staff working in the Canadian international cooperation sector. \nThis roundtable provides a unique space for BIPOC staff to connect\, share experiences\, and collectively address challenges within the sector. Engage in insightful discussions\, gain valuable perspectives from experienced professionals\, and collaboratively explore strategies to enhance diversity\, equity\, and inclusion. Let’s build connections\, foster solidarity\, and pave the way for positive change within the Canadian international cooperation community. Together\, we are stronger. \nSave the date and join the conversation! \nDates:\n– The leadership* roundtable will be held on April 11th\, 1pm-4pm EST\n– The staff** roundtable will be held on April 16th\, 1pm-4pm EST \nStructure:\n– Frequency: Each roundtable will meet once over an afternoon in the earlier parts of the new year.\n– Format: Virtual meetings\, each meeting will include a combination of open and structured discussions.\n– Moderation: The roundtable will be facilitated by the Racial Justice Expert but will be run through collective ownership inviting all into the management and definition of the meetings \nPreparation: Participants are encouraged to come prepared to share their experiences\, questions and actively engage in discussions. Pre-reading materials that will be distributed in advance to provide context and facilitate a more informed conversation. Please make sure to share if you have any caucus topics in the registration form. \nFollow-up: A summary report of the roundtable discussions\, including key insights/reflections\, action items\, and identified strategies\, will be compiled and shared with participants. Follow-up activities\, including ongoing communication channels\, will be established to ensure the sustainability of the initiatives discussed.
