SUMMARY:Doing Hard Things With Friends: Accompaniment as Policy
DESCRIPTION:Join Partners in Health Canada for an informal group discussion on “Accompaniment as Policy\,” a talk by Dr. Paul Farmer delivered at the Harvard Kennedy School: https://www.harvardmagazine.com/2011/05/paul-farmer-accompaniment-as-policy. \nPaul reflects on what it truly means to “accompany” as a practice of solidarity that shapes how care\, development\, and policy are carried out. Drawing from his field work\, he challenges the idea that expertise alone is enough\, and makes the case that lasting change requires a willingness to stay when things get hard. \nThis session is a space to think together about: \n\nWhat accompaniment looks like in practice\nWhy so many well-intentioned policies fail at the implementation stage\nHow solidarity and imagination can reshape global health systems We look forward to reading (and thinking) together!\n\nAttend here!

SUMMARY:Measuring What Matters: Inclusive\, Monitoring\, Evaluation\,& Learning (MEL) at the Triple Nexus
DESCRIPTION:Measuring What Matters explores best practices for designing and implementing inclusive MEL systems that support real-time reflection\, adaptation\, and equity-centered decision-making. Grounded in feminist and locally led approaches\, the series supports Canadian international cooperation actors to shift MEL from donor-driven reporting toward locally led learning that strengthens program quality\, relevance\, and justice across humanitarian\, development\, and peacebuilding contexts. Sessions combine interactive activities\, peer learning\, and practical application\, with supplemental learning materials to keep participants engaged throughout the training series. \nThis three-part series is designed for a broad range of practitioners\, reflecting a commitment to breaking down silos and fostering collaborative\, evidence-based practice. Inclusive\, locally driven MEL depends on multi-stakeholder engagement across roles\, sectors\, and geographies. \n\n\n\n\n\nThis is a cumulative training series\, the discussion will build at each session. Participants are encouraged to attend all three of the virtual training sessions. Following the main training sessions\, the facilitators will join two additional\, optional learning sessions.  \n\n\n\nSession One – Inclusive MEL at the Triple Nexus: Principals and Pitfalls – Thursday\, February 26 at 1:00 – 2:30 PM EST.  \nSession Two – Power\, Participation and What We Measure: Shaping MEL for Equity – Thursday\, March 12\, 2026 at 1:00 – 2:30 EST.\nSession Three: From Data to Insight: Practical Tools for Inclusive & Adaptive Learning – Thursday\, March 26\, 2026 at 1:00 – 2:30 PM EST.  \n\nLearning Spaces (optional): Thursday April 9\, 2026 at 1:00 – 2:00 PM EST\, Thursday May 7\, 2026 at 1:00 – 2:00 PM EST \n*spaces are limited so we encourage you to register as soon as you can \n\n\n\n\nParticipation fee: $100 per participant for the full course (3 sessions + optional learning spaces) \nCooperation Canada is committed to making our trainings accessible\, especially for actors traditionally excluded from sector-wide initiatives due to limited resources. Fee waivers or reduced fees are available. Please email programs@cooperation.ca for support.  \n\n\n\n\nMeasuring What Matters challenges and supports participants to shift from extractive\, top-down monitoring and evaluation systems towards inclusive approaches that are community-centered\, and grounded in learning and equity. Rooted in the realities of the humanitarian-development-peace nexus\, this training series empowers participants to reflect on their MEL practice\, explore power dynamics in measurement and learning\, and apply tools for real-time reflection and accountability. \nThis program is designed to equip participants with the ability to:  \n\nExplain key principles of inclusive and locally-led MEL within the context of the triple nexus.\nAnalyze common dilemmas around what is measured\, who defines success\, and how learning is shared\, owned\, and acted upon.\nIdentify opportunities to make MEL systems more adaptive\, learning-focused\, and equity-responsive.\nApply practical tools that embed real-time reflection\, course correction\, and community realities into MEL practice.\n\n\n\n\n\nWho Should Attend?  Intended for practitioners across the humanitarian\, development\, and peace sectors with a basic understanding of MEL\, especially those working with marginalized populations\, including MEL specialists\, program managers\, funders\, GAC policy and technical leads\, and country office and local partners. \nLearn more and attend here!

SUMMARY:Access to health: Strengthening transparency\, accountability and inclusion in service delivery
DESCRIPTION:Part of the Inclusive Service Delivery Africa (ISDA) project \nCorruption and discrimination are major obstacles to achieving sustainable and inclusive development. They fuel inequalities in accessing essential services\, reduce public resources and create barriers to effectively allocate money for education and healthcare. For women\, girls and groups most at risk of discrimination\, the impacts are significant\, as corruption worsens existing disparities and widens the development gap. \nOn March 5\, Transparency International Canada and CanWaCH will be hosting a crucial discussion on corruption and discrimination\, highlighting progress in improving access to health services for women\, girls and marginalized communities. The session will bring together representatives from Inclusive Service Delivery Africa (ISDA) chapters and guests working in the field. Join us as they share updates\, discuss challenges\, and explore practical approaches to strengthening transparency\, accountability and inclusion in health service delivery.  \nThe 90-minute discussion\, including a period for Q&A\, will start at 9 a.m. EST.  \nIn-person participation in Toronto is limited. If you are interested in attending in person\, please let us know as soon as possible by sending an email to ti-can@transparencycanada.ca.  \nRegister for the Zoom webinar!  \nAbout ISDA \nInclusive Service Delivery Africa (ISDA) is a four-year project funded by Global Affairs Canada and implemented across Madagascar\, Zimbabwe\, Rwanda\, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Ghana\, working with Transparency International chapters to address governance-related barriers to access in education and health care.

SUMMARY:Climate x SRHR: Frontline Leaders in Action
DESCRIPTION:Climate change is increasingly disrupting health systems\, threatening livelihoods\, displacing communities\, and undermining access to essential services—particularly in regions least responsible for the crisis. Extreme weather events such as floods\, droughts\, and storms disproportionately impact women’s and girls’ health\, including access to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). \nWhile many funders and practitioners recognize the link between climate change and SRHR\, questions remain about how these issues intersect in practice and what solutions are being implemented on the ground. \nThis webinar brings together frontline leaders and organizations working at the climate × SRHR intersection to share lessons\, research\, and innovations from Pakistan\, Bangladesh\, Nepal\, and Afghanistan. Convened by Panorama Global\, Pathfinder International\, the Population Council’s Population\, Environmental Risks and the Climate Crisis (PERCC) Initiative\, and the ICFP Environment and Climate Change Subcommittee\, this discussion builds on the Drumbeat to ICFP webinar series launched in 2025. \nThis session will be recorded and shared with all registrants via a follow-up email. By registering for this event\, you agree to receive future event information from the hosts. \nAttend here!

SUMMARY:Uniting Sectors for Integrated Nutrition and Holistic Early Childhood Development in Crises
DESCRIPTION:In crises\, children are not just surviving\, they’re experiencing the most critical window for growth\, learning\, and lifelong development. Yet nutrition and ECD actors too often work in silos\, competing for the same limited funding while children face rising humanitarian needs. \nThis Nutrition month\, Moving Minds Alliance and Results Canada invite you to an interactive\, solutions‑focused webinar that flips the script: instead of competing\, we collaborate. Building on commitments made at the Nutrition for Growth (N4G) Summit\, this convening brings together policymakers\, civil society\, donors\, practitioners\, refugee leaders\, and humanitarian actors to strengthen the collective case for integrating nutrition and early childhood development in emergencies. \nJoin them to review progress since N4G\, unpack persistent policy and financing gaps\, and co‑create recommendations that ensure every child\, no matter the crisis\, can access the nutrition and nurturing care they need to survive and thrive. Participants will hear diverse perspectives before joining breakout sessions to shape actionable advocacy and investment priorities that drive meaningful impact for the youngest children in crises. \nAttend here!

SUMMARY:Humans\, Animals\, and Intimate Partner Violence: Shared Victimizations\, and Shared Solutions
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Wednesday\, March 25th as the AVA Webinar Series presents Humans\, Animals\, and Intimate Partner Violence: Shared Victimizations\, and Shared Solutions\, featuring Dr. Rochelle Stevenson from Thompson Rivers University. \nWednesday\, March 25th\, 2026 \n2 – 3:30pm EDT \nCompanion animals\, or pets\, are an important part of life for many people. General pet ownership estimates for North America indicate that over 60 percent of households have at least one pet\, and pets are increasingly being considered family members. Companion animals are often viewed as children or siblings and anthropomorphized\, and genuinely grieved when they die. However\, the status of companion animals as family members also creates a vulnerability for being victimized along with the human family members in situations of intimate partner violence. \nDr. Stevenson’s talk will discuss her research on intimate partner violence and the inclusion of companion animals in the violent dynamic. In particular\, this presentation will present recent research on the prevalence of the inclusion of animals in situations of intimate partner violence\, the impact on victim/survivors\, the role that companion animals play in healing from violence\, and solutions to support both human and animal victim/survivors of intimate partner violence. \nAbout the Speaker \nDr. Rochelle Stevenson is an Associate Professor of Criminology in the Department of Environment\, Culture\, and Society at Thompson Rivers University\, and faculty member with the Animal and Interpersonal Abuse Research Group (AIPARG). Dr. Stevenson’s research focuses on gender-based violence. Her work includes the intersection of interpersonal violence and violence against animals\, barriers to help-seeking from intimate partner violence\, and sexualized violence. Dr. Stevenson maintains an intersectional and anti-oppression foundation in her research and activism with two overarching goals: naming\, understanding\, and stopping violence in any form\, and advocating for social justice with inclusive social policy and practice. \nAttend here!

\n\nSession One – Inclusive MEL at the Triple Nexus: Principals and Pitfalls – Thursday\, February 26 at 1:00 – 2:30 PM EST. \nAttend here!

SUMMARY:Engaging Community on MMIWG+ Prevention in Highway of Tears Country
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Wednesday\, April 1st\, as the AVA Webinar Series presents Engaging Community on MMIWG+ Prevention in Highway of Tears Country\, featuring Dr. Jacqueline Holler and Sara Heembrock from the University of Northern British Columbia. \nWednesday\, April 1st\, 2026 \n2 – 3:30pm EDT \nThe term “Highway of Tears” is globally synonymous with the issue of missing and murdered Indigenous women\, girls\, and gender minorities (MMIWG+)\, but the region has also been the site of powerful advocacy and engagement for change. The Highway of Tears Symposium of 2006 spotlighted the issue and culminated in 33 recommendations for change in Northern BC. This webinar presents results of ongoing engagement and research on MMIWG+ prevention among Carrier Sekani Family Services\, the Northern Feminist Institute for Research and Evaluation\, and communities and agencies in North-Central British Columbia. Since 2023\, the current research partnership has conducted research and engaged community members along the Highway of Tears to assess both progress on prevention and ongoing gaps. This webinar introduces the research project and its findings in advance of the 20th Anniversary Highway of Tears Symposium to be held in Prince George\, BC in April 2026. \nAbout the Speakers \nDr. Jacqueline Holler is Professor of Women’s & Gender Studies and History at the University of Northern British Columbia and a member of the leadership team at the Northern Feminist Institute for Research and Evaluation. \nSara Heembrock is a Master of Education (Counselling) student at the University of Northern British Columbia with experience working alongside Indigenous communities across student services\, housing\, holistic wellness\, and social services in Northern British Columbia. Her work is grounded in Indigenous-led\, trauma-informed\, and community-based approaches\, with a focus on advocacy\, systems change\, and strengthening access to culturally responsive supports. She is committed to bridging research\, policy\, and practice to advance safety\, accountability\, and more connected communities. \nAttend here!
