SUMMARY:Launch: Inequality Monitoring in Sexual\, Reproductive\, Maternal\, Newborn\, Child and Adolescent Health eLearning course
DESCRIPTION:Inequities in sexual\, reproductive\, maternal\, newborn\, child and adolescent health (SRMNCAH) throughout the world mean that certain population subgroups have systematically worse health outcomes and poorer access to services and interventions than others. Addressing inequities in SRMNCAH is central to achieving universal health coverage\, protecting human rights\, advancing gender equality\, combating discrimination and improving the social determinants of health. Making progress in each of these areas is also vital to achieve WHO’s Triple Billion targets and accelerate towards the health-related SDGs. \nRegular monitoring and review of inequalities in SRMNCAH by stakeholders at regional\, national and subnational levels is critical for evidence based decision making. The results of this inequality monitoring can also be used as an input (alongside other forms of knowledge and evidence) to determine where efforts and resources are needed to improve health and well-being for disadvantaged subgroups. \nThis informational webinar marks the release of a new WHO eLearning course: Inequality Monitoring in Sexual\, Reproductive\, Maternal\, Newborn\, Child and Adolescent Health. The course introduces learners to a five-step approach to inequality monitoring in the context of SRMNCAH\, preparing them to apply these steps across diverse contexts and settings. The adoption by the International Labour Organization of the Declaration on Social Justice for a Fair Globalization is just one recent example of the UN System’s commitment to social justice. The Declaration focuses on guaranteeing fair outcomes for all\, through employment\, social protection\, social dialogue\, and fundamental principles and rights at work.

The history of Black Canadians is an\nparticularly diverse one – from the story of Black Canadians in Africville\, to the wave of African\n& Caribbean migrants that arrived in Canada over the course of the 60s and 80s\, and now at\npresent day – the history of revolution and resistance is a recurring theme that is prevalent\namongst Black communities. This Black History Month not only are we taking a moment to\nexplore our past\, but we are also taking the time to celebrate the work of contemporary Black\nscholars\, activists\, and leaders from our local communities. \nDilaye Desta will be moderating this discussion &; will go through a series of questions that\nhighlight our panelists & views and the passion behind their work. We will hear about the\nhistorical context of resistance movements in Canada and how their work ties into community\nactivism and revolution in contemporary society. DESCRIPTION:Children Believe’s virtual panel will spotlight the issue of youth employability and highlight the achievements of the nearly completed 4-year EMPUJE Project: Closing the Gender Gap in Youth Employability. \nEMPUJE is based on a validated youth employment model focused on two main areas: improving the preparation and potential for employment or entrepreneurship for youth\, in particular young girls and women\, and improving the provision of professional training services for youth at technology centres\, with a gender focus\, and in youth-friendly and safe learning environments. \nHear from youth and experts in this field about what works at scale for youth employability and how important it is to focus on reaching and supporting girls and young women. A distinguished panel will discuss how strengthening collaborative relationships among governments\, civil society\, multi-laterals\, the private sector\, youth\, and their communities can contribute to re-imagining solutions to youth employability and gender gap challenges. \nREGISTER HERE

DESCRIPTION:Women\, girls and gender-diverse folk worldwide remain systemically disadvantaged and under-represented in positions of power\, both here in Canada and across the globe.
