SUMMARY:Sexual and Reproductive Justice now! A call to action two years on from the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) + 25 Nairobi Summit
DESCRIPTION:In 2019\, over 8\,300 people from 172 countries gathered at the Nairobi Summit to celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of the landmark Programme of Action adopted at the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) in Cairo. Over 1\,300 commitments were made by Governments\, civil society and the private sector that were accompanied by 12 global commitments to achieve ICPD goals. The independent High-Level Commission of the Nairobi Summit  (HLC)\, was tasked with submitting periodic reports to the United Nations Population Fund\, UNFPA.  Two years later\, no region is on track for achieving its commitments.   \n SheDecides 25×25 youth leaders will be discussing the first HLC report No Exceptions\, No Exclusions with high-level commissioners at two years of the Nairobi Summit. Speakers will also analyse key international examples of what is holding SRHR back and how we can move SRHR forward. This is a crucial moment for sexual and reproductive health and rights worldwide. \nWe would love you to be part of this conversation to take urgent action together.

SUMMARY:SLF Pride Talks: Safety at Home for LGBTIQ Communities in sub-Saharan Africa
DESCRIPTION:In Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Kenya\, as well as in many countries around the world\, LGBTIQ people face discrimination and violence from their governments\, communities\, and families. While some LGBTIQ activists must flee for their safety\, most continue to live and work in their home countries and communities. \nJoin us on December 9\,at 11 a.m. EST in honour of Human Rights Day for our third installment of the SLF Pride Talks. You will have the opportunity to hear first-hand from the leaders of two vital community-based organizations in DRC and Kenya that are working to create safety at home for LGBTIQ individuals. \nThe event will also feature a short video that will highlight how: \n– Bridge Initiative Organization in Tanzania reunites families by leading peer-to-peer conversations between parents of LGBTIQ community members \n– Tamba Pwani in Kenya creates affirming and inclusive health care by training health care workers \n– Rainbow Sunrise Mapambazuko’s friendship centre in Democratic Republic of the Congo gives LGBTIQ individuals a place to gather and connect without needing to hide who they are \nand more! \nPartners in Pride \nThe Stephen Lewis Foundation Partners in Pride campaign is a global solidarity movement that mobilizes funds for grassroots LGBTIQ organizations in five central and east African countries. \nThese organizations build hope and solidarity among LGBTIQ individuals while providing health care\, legal services\, counselling\, and support. DESCRIPTION:Throughout human history\, migration has been a courageous expression of the individual’s will to overcome adversity and to live a better life. Today\, globalization\, together with advances in communications and transportation\, has greatly increased the number of people\, who have the desire and the capacity to move to other places. \nThis new era has created challenges and opportunities for societies throughout the world. It also has served to underscore the clear linkage between migration and development\, as well as the opportunities it provides for co-development\, that is\, the concerted improvement of economic and social conditions at both origin and destination. \nMigration draws increasing attention in the world nowadays. Mixed with elements of unforeseeability\, emergency\, and complexity\, the challenges and difficulties of international migration require enhanced cooperation and collective action among countries and regions. The United Nations is actively playing a catalyst role in this area\, with the aim of creating more dialogues and interactions within countries and regions\, as well as propelling experience exchange and collaboration opportunities.
