DESCRIPTION:Learning Objectives from Webinar:\n\nConsider the variant issues related to the naming and voicing of obstetric violence;\nConsider the variant causes of birth trauma\nConsider the variant impacts and consequences of obstetric violence and birth trauma\nConsider the possible options and strategies for stopping obstetric violence and birth trauma as preventable harms\n\nDr. Heather Mattner \nDr. Heather Mattner is a Perinatal Health Psychologist and Midwife with an extensive background in maternal/infant health care\, midwifery practice\, research and education\, models of practice development and review\, perinatal mental health and wellbeing\, perinatal Aboriginal health and wellbeing and primary health care. Heather has worked and lived in urban\, regional\, rural and remote settings across Australia and in New Guinea\, Nepal and Swaziland holding university\, government\, non-government\, private sector and consultancy roles. Heather is an Adjunct Associate Professor and an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer in the School of Psychology at The University of Adelaide. Heather has a private practice in Perinatal Psychology in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia where she sees 80 to 90 clients a month from across Australia many of whom have experienced perinatal trauma. Heather is intensely committed to achieving the prevention of birth/perinatal trauma and is also involved in presenting workshops across Australia with a consumer advocate and human rights lawyer educating maternity care professionals on Better Birth With Consent. Heather has led the writing of a guideline for the prevention of birth trauma published by the Maternity Consumer Network of Australia. \nAttend here!

All welcome!\n\n\nLearning Objectives from Webinar:\n\n\nLearn more current evidence on the sex-disparity in cardiovascular health.\nLearn the experience of conducting health promotion activities in a marginalized community in Hong Kong\n\nMeet Prof. Jane Zhao \nProf. Jane Zhao is an Assistant Professor at School of Public Health\, Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine\, The University of Hong Kong. Prof. Zhao has been focusing on the potential causes and modifiable drivers of chronic diseases\, mainly cardiovascular disease\, diabetes and chronic kidney disease. In her research\, she utilized interdisciplinary approach incorporating epidemiology\, genetics\, nutrition and clinical trials\, to assess the role of modifiable targets\, such as dietary factors and medications\, on chronic diseases. These dedicated efforts generated fruitful research outputs\, with 80 publications in prestigious international journals such as the British Medical Journal (BMJ)\, European Heart Journal (EHJ)\, Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC)\, BMC Medicine\, Journal of the American Society of Nephrology (JASN)\, Diabetologia\, Drugs\, American Journal of Clinical Nutrition\, 55 of these as the first author and/or corresponding author. Prof. Zhao was awarded the HKU Research Output Prize\, and Faculty Outstanding Research Output Award\, as well as the prestigious Takemi Fellowship at Harvard University. Considering the differences by settings\, Prof. Zhao is dedicated to finding locally relevant evidence\, as well as prevention and treatment strategies. As Principal Investigator (PI)\, in collaboration with Elderly Health Service Centers in Hong Kong\, Prof. Zhao coordinated the Elderly Biobank\, an elderly biobank built based on a large elderly cohort across all 18 districts in Hong Kong. As a leader\, she got funded to establish the Collaboration Hub on healthy aging\, to promote data sharing and lead collaborative work. \nAttend here!

Dr. Munro conducts health services research with a focus on knowledge mobilization and implementation science to understand\, What are the factors that influence equitable access to high-quality\, culturally-safe\, sexual and reproductive health care for equity-deserving populations? She leads several large national and international studies in close partnership with patients\, including a community-based investigation to understand youth contraception access in Canada\, The Ask Us Project. \nVictoria Paller – Co-Presenter\n\nVictoria recently completed her MSc in the Women+ and Children’s Health Sciences Program at UBC\, where her thesis focused on youth access to contraception in BC under the supervision of Dr. Sarah Munro and Dr. Laura Schummers. She also holds a BHSc from the University of Ottawa and is passionate about advancing access to sexual and reproductive health through community-engaged research.\n\n\nKaiya Jacob – Co-Presenter\n\nKaiya BBJacob (she/her) is a MSW student at York University\, a published scholar\, trained doula\, community worker\, and researcher. Born and raised on unceded Musqueam\, Squamish\, and Tsleil-Waututh territories as settler of mixed Swedish\, Irish\, German\, and Afro-Trinidadian descent\, anti-oppression is central to her values and her work. In her Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Gender\, Sexuality\, Women’s Studies at Simon Fraser University\, she focused on the role of communications in community building and advocacy for Black\, racialized\, and queer communities.\n\n\n\n\nAttend here!
