SUMMARY:CPHIA side event: Defeating malaria through equitable partnerships
DESCRIPTION:Dear colleagues and partners attending the 2023 Conference on Public Health in Africa\, \nYou are warmly invited to a side event entitled “Defeating malaria through equitable partnerships” organized by Medicines for Malaria Venture and The Tropical Diseases Research Centre\, Zambia. \nWhile significant strides have been made in the last two decades to defeat malaria\, today\, progress is stalling. In 2021\, malaria claimed nearly 619\,000 lives worldwide and over 245 million malaria cases were reported. Over the years\, many partnerships have worked to achieving the goal of eradicating malaria. \nIn this side event\, experts will shed light on how equitable partnerships between key stakeholders in malaria-endemic countries and other actors in the global malaria community can be the building blocks for the development of sustainable R&D and access strategies for malaria elimination. \nKey takeaways: \n· Insights: Gain insights from African leaders and experts on the front lines of malaria elimination. \n· Solutions: Discover solutions and success stories that are driving progress in response to seasonal malaria surges\, severe malaria and medical supply insecurity. \n· Challenges: Understand the challenges equitable partnerships encounter and learn how they can be surmounted. \nModerator: \n Joy Phumaphi\, African Leaders Malaria Alliance and MMV Medicines for Malaria Venture Board \nConfirmed Speakers: \n Christine Manyando\, Tropical Diseases Research Centre\, Zambia \n Eric Nebié\, National Institute of Public Health (INSP)\, Burkina Faso \n Alice Neequaye\, MMV Medicines for Malaria Venture\, Switzerland \n Ngashi Ngongo\, Africa CDC\, Ethiopia \nPlease RSVP by November 20th\, 2023 to secure your place at this event. Seating is limited\, and we encourage early registration to guarantee your participation. \nJoin us in our shared mission to eliminate malaria and build a healthier\, more equitable world.
