The Quiché Project, which wrapped up in December 2020, was rolled out in the municipalities of San Andrés Sajcabajá, San Antonio Ilotenango, San Bartolomé Jocotenango, and Santa Cruz del Quiché, In Guatemala. Through this initiative, sustainable access to water, sanitation, and hygiene was facilitated for more than 40,000 people, and over 81,300 people were mobilized towards the continuous practice of key WASH-related behaviours through SABC interventions.
The Quiché Project was part of the Lazos de Agua Program, a multi-stakeholder partnership of One Drop, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), The Coca-Cola Foundation and Fundación FEMSA. With a total financial commitment of US$ 25 million from these organizations (US $10 M from One Drop) and complementary investments from national and local governments and the communities, as well as from executing partners and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation. The Program provided sustainable WASH access to around 200,000 people in Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Paraguay by December 2022.
At its closing in December 2020, the Quiché Project had facilitated sustainable access to water and/or sanitation and hygiene services for 40,001 people in the municipalities of San Andrés Sajcabajá, San Antonio Ilotenango, San Bartolomé Jocotenango and Santa Cruz del Quiché. In addition, 81,349 people, including those benefiting from infrastructure, had participated in Social Art for Behaviour Change™ (SABC) interventions, an approach of the One Drop Foundation.
