Announcing CanWaCH as the new host for the Inter-Agency Working Group (IAWG) on Reproductive Health in Crises

CanWaCH is pleased to announce an exciting new partnership with the Inter-Agency Working Group (IAWG) on Reproductive Health in Crises, the longest-standing and only global coalition focused specifically on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in humanitarian settings.

In its role as organizational host for IAWG, CanWaCH will leverage its expertise in coalition and partnership work, virtual working groups and stakeholder engagement, and secretariat operations to support IAWG’s work to advance sexual and reproductive health and rights for people affected by crises.

For CanWaCH members, this new partnership will provide:

  • Stronger programming: Members will gain access to best practices, research and tools to integrate humanitarian and development approaches more effectively.
  • New learning and collaboration opportunities: Exposure to a global network of experts in SRHR, humanitarian response and development will provide fresh insights and strategies. Partnering with IAWG will provide opportunities for CanWaCH members to learn from and engage with new and diverse international stakeholders.
  • Greater cohesion across sectors: By fostering dialogue between humanitarian and development actors, this partnership will facilitate a more unified and impactful response to an increasingly complex set of global challenges.
  • Expanded partnerships and opportunities: Members from both coalitions will benefit from increased engagement with each other’s networks and diversified partnership portfolios.

In an increasingly complex operational environment where prolonged and cyclical crises are blurring the lines between humanitarian and development work, there is more need than ever to coordinate approaches, align diverse actors around common goals, and foster powerful partnerships.

This partnership leverages the strengths of both CanWaCH and IAWG to foster a novel, holistic approach to advancing global health and rights. By combining efforts and expertise, we will drive more transformative and lasting impacts for communities worldwide.
