My Education, My Future: Supporting Burundian Refugee Girls’ Education (MEMF) is a four-year (2020-2025), $6.9 million, gender-responsive education project for girls affected by the Burundian refugee crisis in Burundi and Tanzania. This initiative is being implemented by Right To Play International (RTP), in partnership with the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC). The project will work towards the ultimate outcome of improved learning outcomes for girls, including girls with disabilities, affected by the Burundian crisis and living in refugee camps in Tanzania and repatriated communities in Burundi. This will be achieved by i) increasing access to protective, inclusive and gender-responsive play-based education for girls, including girls with disabilities; and ii) improving provision of protective, inclusive and gender-responsive play-based learning for girls, including girls with disabilities.

Improved learning outcomes for girls affected by the Burundian crisis living in refugee camps in Tanzania and repatriated communities in Burundi, including girls with disabilities
Final results achieved:
Burundi: (1) A total of 15,462 (6,582 Male / 8,880 Female) community members had participated in various awareness activities on girls’ education – exceeding the initial target of 10, 500; (2) Over the five-year project period, 150 (62 Male/88 Female) community coaches received targeted training on critical topics, including child protection, children’s rights and the identification and referral of SGBV cases; (3) 571 community-led initiatives were introduced, exceeding the target of 180; (4) a total of 13, 327 children (6,633 Male/ 6,694 Female) were successfully enrolled in 30 target schools in primary schools.
Tanzania: (1) The project contributed to a total of 72 community-led initiatives, reaching a total of 10,008 (4,389 Male / 5,619 Female); (2) 150 (62 Male / 88 Female) community coaches received targeted training on critical topics, including child protection, children rights, and the identification and referral of SGBV cases; (3) The project established 11 CoPs with coaches at Nduta (3 CoPs) and Nyarugusu (8 CoPs) refugee camps, meeting the project target; (4) In total, the project worked with 11 girls’ clubs, each having 30 club members, making a total of 330 girls club members, meeting with the project target.
