PROJECT OVERVIEW

Cuso International is planning to implement the Dev Trade Collaboration Initiative for Tanzania, funded by the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI). The initiative aims to increase networking opportunities and collaboration between at least 15 Canadian private sector companies in Tanzania, with over 20 NGOs and other training organizations active in the country. Cuso will organize four networking events for private sector companies and NGOs, and a trade/development nexus marketplace event. The consultant will serve as a lead event organizer, partnership facilitator, and engagement coordinator, supporting the planning and execution of four networking events for private sector companies at the Canadian High Commission or at the High Commissioner’s and finally a larger Dev Trade Marketplace event between February and March 2026 as the culmination of the project to highlight shared priorities, exchange best practices, and identify opportunities to collaborate in support of both development objectives and commercial outcomes

SCOPE OF WORK

The Consultant will be responsible for coordinating stakeholders, facilitating networking events, leading communication efforts, and preparing event documentation and reports. The consultant will work closely with Cuso’s Partnership and Program Development team and the Canadian High Commission in Tanzania.

KEY DELIVERABLES

1) Event Planning & Delivery:

• Organize four networking events (Sept 2025–Jan 2026) for private sector companies and NGOs at the Canadian High Commission and/or High Commissioner’s Residence
• Plan and deliver a larger Dev Trade Marketplace event at a conference venue as a culmination of the project between Feb–Mar 2026. This event will include presentations and panel discussions, as well as extensive informal networking, introductions, and side-meetings on the margins of the conference to advance specific opportunities.
• Track attendance, follow up on collaboration interest, and maintain the stakeholder roster

2) Communications & Visibility:

• Coordinate promotion and visibility of events through Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and post-event visual content.
• Lead production of event communication materials, including speaker bios, agendas, banners, and signage.

3) Reporting:

• Prepare individual event reports and a final comprehensive program report, highlighting summary of completed activities, results, variance between expected and actual results and lesson learned. The report will also highlight shared priorities, exchange best practices, and identify opportunities to collaborate in support of both development objectives and commercial outcomes.
• List of Canadian firms and Canadian and Tanzanian NGOs interested in working together on trade-development collaboration
• An Interim Progress Report may also be required

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in international development, communications, business, event management, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in event planning, stakeholder engagement, or partnership development.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to manage multi-stakeholder initiatives.
• Experience working with development actors, private sector, and diplomatic missions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred:

• Familiarity with the Tanzanian NGO sector and/or Canadian private sector operating in Africa.
• Experience with donor-funded projects and reporting (preferably CFLI or Global Affairs Canada).
• Knowledge of gender equality and inclusive programming.

PAYMENT TERMS

Monthly consultancy fee based on deliverables. Event-related expenses (e.g., travel, printing, coordination costs), if applicable, will be reimbursable by Cuso International
