On May 13, CanWaCH hosted its second Global Health Impact Summit in Montréal, Quebec. Centered around the theme of Rising Tides: Measuring climate impacts on the health and rights of communities in crisis, invited participants gathered to listen, share and learn from each other. Presentations featured 15 active projects exploring gender and climate impacts as part of their monitoring and evaluation processes, with the ultimate aim to advance health and rights.
Using a peer-learning approach, participants shared radically candid presentations of the many successes and challenges they face in measuring results and impact, as well as steps taken towards mitigating or resolving those challenges.
On World Sexual Health Day, CanWaCH hosted an engaging panel discussion on Connecting the dots: Data for advancing SRHR! Featuring global perspectives, the discussion unpacked why and how data is essential for measuring, tracking and driving progress in our efforts to achieve sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) for everyone. Thank you to everyone who joined us!
Did you know that one in four women or girls of reproductive age in humanitarian settings are at serious risk of death or disability due to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) complications, including unsafe abortion? These Canadian Collaborative for Global Health partners are working to establish recommendations regarding the collection of rigorous, high-quality information about self-managed abortion in fragile and humanitarian settings. They also work with stakeholders to develop tools to facilitate the uptake of these recommendations.
