Introducing our French Terminology Guide on the Use of Technical Terms in Gender Equality

This tool is a French terminology guide on the use of technical gender equality terms for those working in the field of international development.

This tool is the product of a reflection process led by the CanWaCH Gender Equality Working Group. This Francophone Collective is composed of Francophone colleagues who work in the field of gender equality in Canada and who are connected to the CanWaCH Gender Equality Working Group.

This French guide stems from a need identified by the CanWaCH Gender Equality Working Group to harmonize the use of French technical terms in gender equality. Working in the field of gender equality is challenging because many technical terms are often inaccurate or outdated and sometimes the subject of debate. In addition, some terms are used in English because they do not necessarily have a French translation that captures the essence of the concept in the same way.

As a result of conversations about these issues, the idea was born to create a French terminology guide on the use of technical terms in gender equality.

Due to the nature of this resource, this tool only exists in French. We’re looking for participants to continue developing this guide! Sign up here and share this opportunity with your Francophone colleagues. Email Deborah Dahan if you have any questions.
