Global Affairs Canada's Call to Action Brings Together Canadian Partners Working in Haiti

In February 2018, Global Affairs Canada launched a Call to Action for partners in Haiti in order to better coordinate with Canadian organizations working to strengthen the Haitian health system.  Minister of International Development and La Francophonie, Marie-Claude Bibeau was visiting Haiti at the time of the Call to Action’s launch. Since then, it has been endorsed by more than 20 Canadian NGOs and academic institutions. The Call to Action is a result of a series of meetings between Global Affairs Canada, CanWaCH and Canadian actors working in Haiti, beginning in April 2017 in Sherbrooke.

More recently, with the help of CanWaCH’s Project Explorer and an online survey sent out to the organizations that endorsed the Call to Action, two maps were created that show all of the Canadian organizations working in Haiti’s health sector. One is a large scale map (pictured above) and one is a handout, which was produced for use during the launch of the Call to Action.

The maps contain the names, project locations and area(s) of focus of the organizations. They will be a used as a starting point for facilitating coordination between the organizations and are meant to be used in parallel with CanWaCH’s Project Explorer, where more project details can be shared.

Interested in adding your health project(s) to the CanWaCH Project Explorer?
