Lead On Canada: Spotlight on Haiti  

This month, come on an adventure with us throughout Lead On Canada’s “Spotlight on Haiti”! From now until January 28th, the Lead On Canada Facebook hub will feature the work of Canadian organizations in Haiti. We invite you to follow #CanadaInHaiti to share the impact of Canadian health leadership and innovation in Haiti. 

CanWaCH Awards: Deadline Extended! 

The deadline to submit nominations for the second annual CanWaCH Awards for Canadian Excellence in Global Women and Children’s Health is now January 25, 2019. These prestigious honours will be bestowed upon individuals who have demonstrated significant contribution towards Canada’s advancement of global health for women and children in the following five categories:  Leadership, Gender Equality, Measuring Impact, Young Leader and Partnership. International Development Week: February 3-9, 2019 

Join us for a special International Development Week event on February 5, 2019, from 12:00 – 5:00 pm at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa that will interactively showcase to visitors how Canadians are making a difference around the world. Monthly Metrics Bulletin: 2018 Year in Review

Women Deliver 2019 Mobilization Canada: Upcoming Legacies Webinar 

Winter has been busy for Women Deliver 2019 Mobilization Canada with the Women Deliver 2019 Conference less than 5 months away! December saw the launched of the first set of legacies (outcomes) that Mobilizers want to see come out of Canada’s hosting of the Conference in relation to gender-based violence. To learn more about these legacies and their respective Action Areas, sign-up for the upcoming webinar on January 31st at 2:00 pm EST/11:00 am PST. PMNCH Partners’ Forum Roundup 

CanWaCH was pleased to attend the PMNCH Partners’ Forum in New Delhi in December 2018. During the forum, the Canadian High Commission hosted an event for SheDecides India in partnership with CanWaCH and CREA, the local host of SheDecides India. It was an exciting opportunity to demonstrate how growing political and social momentum is promoting the rights of women and girls to many of the 1200 global leaders that attended the Forum. Cuso International: Advancing Women’s Rights in Myanmar

Cuso International shares the story of a run-down colonial-style wooden building in the city of Dawei that is hiding something special. Inside is the only safe house for women and girls fleeing forced prostitution and sexual and domestic violence in Myanmar’s Tanintharyi Region. Read more of this remarkable story here

Inaugural Global Health Conference 

The School of Population and Public Health, UBC and the Centre for International Child Health (CICH) at BC Children’s Hospital are co-hosting the inaugural Global Health Conference on January 24th. This event will bring together multidisciplinary expert speakers and panellists, including CanWaCH’s own Alli Bunting who will speak about the Lead On Canada campaign. Register today!

The Government of Canada is now accepting expressions of interest to design and manage the partnership for gender equality, an opportunity for collective leadership from the private sector, philanthropic community, civil society, and governments to collaborate to build an initiative with long-term global impact.
