On November 16th, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, and Women Deliver President/CEO Katja Iversen spoke to hundreds of leaders, including government officials, business people, and students, at the Vancouver Convention Centre at the kick-off event for Women Deliver 2019, the world’s largest conference on the health, rights and wellbeing of women and girls.
“Women Deliver 2019 is a chance for all of us to come together, step up, and do our part to make gender equality a reality,” said Prime Minister Trudeau. “Everyone benefits when women and girls have the opportunities they need to prosper – and it’s up to all of us to protect and promote their rights.”
They urged leaders to come together around the Conference and take action to champion the rights of girls and women. They were joined by British Columbia Premier John Horgan, and Adina Williams, a youth leader from the Squamish Nation. Now they are calling on everyone to join in and help them design the Women Deliver 2019 Conference program.
