On February 27th, 2018, Canada’s 2018 Federal Budget was announced and the Trudeau government committed to increasing investment in international assistance by $2 Billion over the next five years. CanWaCH and its Members applauded this increased investment in international assistance. Below is a collection of our Member’s responses to the Budget 2018 announcement:
Canadian Coalition for Global Health Research (CCGHR)
CCGHR shared the recent op-ed in the Toronto Star by Professors Kelley Lee and Stephanie Nixon, highlighting their article on Canada’s role in global health in the recent #LancetCanada series.
Grand Challenges Canada covered the 2018 Budget announcement extensively on social media, highlighting Canada’s commitment to Overseas Development Assistance (ODA), innovation and gender. You can read their full Budget 2018 statement here.
RESULTS Canada offered a big THANK YOU to its many volunteers across Canada for using their voices and support to increase Canada’s investment in ODA.
Save the Children Canada highlighted the significant budget increases to support Indigenous children and families on social media as well as an “investment of vital funds to be delivered more quickly and efficiently during humanitarian crises.” You can read their full budget response here.
