The Accounts Manager will be involved in various aspects of financial management, including accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budgeting, and forecast preparation, as part of a dynamic and close-knit PIH Canada team.

Position Summary

Founded in 2011, Partners In Health Canada is at an exciting stage in our development and is seeking an Accounts Manager with expertise in accounting, financial management, audit, budgeting, and cash management to support our revenue growth. The Accounts Manager will be involved in various aspects of financial management, including accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budgeting, and forecast preparation, as part of a dynamic and close-knit PIH Canada team.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting (40%)

  • Maintain all financial transaction records in QuickBooks Online; reconcile, verify, allocate and post transactions
  • Prepare monthly financial statements (including Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss) by collecting, analyzing and summarizing account information
  • Receive invoices and seek appropriate approvals for payment
  • Monitor cash flow in all funds and bank accounts on monthly basis to ensure all incoming cash is received and expense/debt obligations are met
  • Reconcile monthly bank statements to accounting records; process and reconcile organization credit card statement ensuring supporting documents are included.
  • Upload and verify revenue from third party donation platforms 

Financial Management and Reporting (40%)

  • Monitor and prepare quarterly results reports for review, and support Director of Finance and Administration (DoFA) in annual reports and year-end external audit
  • Support DoFA in preparing internal financial reports and for the Board of Directors, reporting on results and revenue and expense projections
  • Support with the bi-weekly payroll run
  • Oversee monthly reconciliation upload between Salesforce and Quickbooks, and between Salesforce and PIH CRM (Raiser’s Edge)
  • Management of third party donation processing vendors
  • Preparation of HST returns and T3010 filings

Budgeting and Planning (20%)

  • Support DoFA and PIH Canada colleagues in preparation of the annual organizational budget
  • Support DoFA on preparation of annual budgeting for major grant agreements, in collaboration with the key budget holders; additional support and review on internal financial grant management as required
  • Support programmatic and development colleagues to ensure PIH Canada financial data is properly integrated into broader organizational systems

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Accounting or ACCA, and working towards CPA.
  • Must have current or previous experience of QuickBooks Online
  • Advanced Excel skills, including building Macros; PowerBi and Dashboard will be considered an asset
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and highly efficient and excellent attention to detail
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively with culturally diverse staff across departments and countries.
  • Be discrete and understand matters of confidentiality
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Five years of accounting experience with demonstrated progressive responsibility and three years of experience in non-profit accounting will be considered strong assets.
  • Interest in social justice strongly desirable.

Compensation

Compensation will depend on experience within a range of $44,000 – $50,000. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled, with an application deadline of Jan 9, 2023.
