Summary

The Brand Engagement Officer is responsible for optimizing constituent experience with branded content and digital channels (care.ca, social media). The Brand Engagement Officer plays a critical role in supporting the Public Engagement team’s overall goal to inspire Canadian investment in a gender-just future by mobilizing Canadians to take tangible action in support of CARE Canada and raise awareness of the CARE brand.

The Brand Engagement Officer is responsible for optimizing constituent experience with branded content and digital channels (care.ca, social media). The Brand Engagement Officer plays a critical role in supporting the Public Engagement team’s overall goal to inspire Canadian investment in a gender-just future by mobilizing Canadians to take tangible action in support of CARE Canada and raise awareness of the CARE brand.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

  1. Content Creation and Distribution (40%)
  • Working with the Brand and Content Marketing Manager, develop compelling multi-media content (blogs, videos, social media posts, etc.) for digital channels and audiences.
  • Working with the Brand and Content Marketing Manager, repurpose content from across CARE International for Canadian audiences.
  • Working with the Brand and Content Marketing Manager, support the development of content for online campaigns and public engagement opportunities.
  • Liaise with stakeholders and peers to determine content needs/gaps and devise responses.
  • Schedule and post content on social media channels.
  • Post majority of website content.
  • Ensure website and social media content is consistent with CARE brand, mission, and values (both in design and in messaging).
  • Lead coordination of digital content calendar that engages in topics that are timely and relevant for target audiences.

2. Brand Engagement (35%)

  • Manage and moderate social media online community, respond to comments and questions, and mobilize support for CARE Canada’s work.
  • Develop relationships with stakeholders and key audiences, including leads, supporters, and donors, corporate, institutional, and diaspora partners through social media platforms.
  • Working with the Marketing Web Developer, administer website and suggest improvements on the user experience to drive engagement.
  • Using a data-driven approach, develop new opportunities to engage with brand audiences (ex. polls, live video, human interest stories, quizzes etc.)
  • Take a leading role in planning, executing, and optimizing web and social content for public engagement campaigns.

3. Collaboration, Reporting, and Analysis (20%)

  • Collaborate on building public engagement campaigns and contribute to product creation.
  • Leverage analytics to optimize search engine optimization and engagement metrics.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (ex. most visited content, acquisition sources, influencer mentions, and engagement etc.)
  • Participate and input into performance targets and evaluation measures.

4. Other (5%)

  • Participate as required in specific appeals such as emergency responses.
  • Liaise with other CARE offices within the CARE Federation to share best practices.
  • Promote harmonious and productive working relationships as a member of a team.
  • Other duties as required.

WHAT YOU OFFER / ABOUT YOU

  • College diploma or university degree in relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • 2 – 5 years of experience managing social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn).
  • 2-5 years of experience managing web content management systems (WordPress).
  • Knowledge of working with measurement tools (Google Analytics, Facebook, and Twitter Insights).
  • Writing and editing for a variety of target audiences.
  • Trend monitoring and research.
  • Experience with donor and supporter relations or customer service.
  • Some knowledge of HTML and CSS is considered an asset.
  • Expertise with video editing (Premiere Pro) is considered an asset.
  • Expertise with graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite) is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of French is considered an asset.
  • Promote and maintain an organizational culture that advances gender equality, reduces power abuse and inequalities, and fosters trust and safety.  
  • Create an environment within CARE’s workplaces, programming, and communities where CARE works that is free from sexual harassment, sexual abuse and sexual exploitation and child abuse (SHEA-CA).  
  • Ensure high standards of prevention and response measures for SHEA-CA are in place consistent with the CARE International (CI) Safeguarding Policy and Safeguarding Code of Conduct. 
  • Ability to work remotely and in-office (Ottawa) once restrictions have been lifted.

WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU EXTRAORDINARY

Previous experience working in an international NGO including work in development contexts. 

Strong working knowledge of French.
