Call for Nominations: 2026 Paul Farmer Lectureship and Award for Global Health Equity

The McGill School of Population and Global Health is now accepting nominations for the 2026 Paul Farmer Award for Global Health Equity.

Established in 2024, this annual award honours individuals or couples whose work embodies Dr. Paul Farmer’s vision of a “preferential option for the poor” and advances health equity in underserved communities.

We seek to recognize exceptional practitioners from around the world, particularly from the Global South, whose impactful work may not always receive the recognition it deserves.

Past recipients include Zackie Achmat (South Africa, 2024) and Drs Lalitha Regi and Regi George (India, 2025), whose work exemplifies long-term commitment to health equity in underserved communities. We encourage nominators to review past awardee profiles to better understand the types of contributions recognized.

About the Award:

  • The award includes a CAD $5,000 honorarium.
  • The recipient will be invited to deliver a special lecture at McGill University.
  • Travel to and accommodations in Montreal will be covered.

For full details, please see the call for nominations.

Please share this call widely across your networks and consider nominating practitioners with a sustained track record of advancing health equity at the community level.
