Summary

Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy & Communications, the Communications Assistant – Medical will help to enhance HPIC’s brand and impact across social media and digital platforms. The Communications Assistant – Medical will monitors HPIC’s social media accounts and develop and deploy frequent on-brand digital content, stories and testimonials that tell the story of HPIC’s work and increases visibility and supports awareness for HPIC followers, donors and partners.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy & Communications, the Communications Assistant – Medical will help to enhance HPIC’s brand and impact across social media and digital platforms. The Communications Assistant – Medical will monitors HPIC’s social media accounts and develop and deploy frequent on-brand digital content, stories and testimonials that tell the story of HPIC’s work and increases visibility and supports awareness for HPIC followers, donors and partners.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Helps to develop social media content from different sources that help feature HPIC key areas of work and its impact to restore health around the world.
  • Helps to maintain HPIC’s social media calendar with the goal to publicize stories, updates 3-5 times per week.
  • Updates content on HPIC’s website and blog post as needed and requested. Helps to monitor HPIC’s public posts and public comments/responses.
  • Helps to develop other communications (content) for internal & external uses such as organizational key messages, donor reports and updates
  • Supports the promotion of virtual campaigns, online events and captures online results
  • Helps to keep track of social media KPI’s and provides summary of online visits etc.
  • Act as brand storyteller, content creator and curator, which includes managing staff content creation, volunteers, suppliers and relevant content from other sources
  • Helps to maintain the voice of HPIC and keeping its key messages current, positive and impactful
  • Helps to prospect media partnerships (funds & GIK) opportunities to show case HPIC
  • Helps develop templates and designs for reports, direct mail campaigns (print & digital) and other external communications for different teams and program areas
  • Works closely with philanthropy, programs and healthcare industry teams to gather content, testimonials and stories that speak to HPIC every day and impact

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Post-Secondary College Diploma level and/or a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or Journalism
  • Experience in fundraising or in the healthcare/not-for-profit sector is an asset
  • Experience creating digital content/design for Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, for marketing purposes is preferred
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Office & trending design applications

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, Abilities/ Aptitudes, Attitudes

  • Superb written and oral communications and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to create content for digital and print communications – digital skills
  • Demonstrated command of language and extensive editing experience
  • Bilingual (English and French) is an asset
  • Resourceful team player with good time management skills and the ability to multitask

Working Conditions
