Description

THE COMPANY

As a member of Save the Children International, Save the Children Canada (SCC) has been committed to advancing children’s rights in Canada and around the world for over 100 years. Save the Children International is known as one of the top international NGOs in the world, with over 40,000 employees in up to 120 countries. They do whatever it takes every day and in times of crisis to ensure children have a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn and are protected from harm. At the heart of all their work is their commitment to ensuring all children, with a focus on the most deprived and marginalized, achieve their rights by raising their voices to advocate and by delivering innovative and large-scale programs. This is done through local, regional, and global partnerships with communities, civil society, government bodies and international agencies.

Save the Children Canada implements programs globally and nationally. Currently, their Canadian program is focused on contributing in meaningful, tangible and sustainable ways to Canadian reconciliation with Indigenous communities. We want a reconciled Canada – a nation of equity, respect and partnership, where every child attains the right to survive, safety, protection, development and participation. Their programs are informed by their Wi-Mino-Kisikat Relationship Framework, which puts children at the center and exemplifies the principles of cultural safety needed to foster meaningful relationships with First Nations, Métis and Inuit partners. Their community-led programs currently span humanitarian response, climate change, education, and health.

Globally, SCC implements programs for children in crisis who live in many of the most fragile contexts and hardest to reach areas around the globe.  Their programs includes everything from rapid humanitarian response to longer-term development efforts. Whether in an emergency or more stable context their overarching goal is to empower girls and boys to fulfill their rights, ensuring every last child has an equal right to survive, learn and be protected. This is achieved through programs that span health, education, protection, economic empowerment, and gender equality.
