Donor Relations and Marketing Coordinator 

Seva Canada is an international development organization located in Kitsilano, Vancouver. At Seva, we  believe that everyone has the right to sight, and our mission is to restore sight and prevent blindness in  low- and middle-income countries. We are seeking a full-time Donor Relations and Marketing Coordinator to join our small, dynamic team of 7 staff. 

The Donor Relations and Marketing Coordinator reports directly to the Donor Relations and Operations  Manager. They’ll support the Seva Canada team in raising awareness of the issue of blindness and visual  impairment and engaging donors in our mission. They’ll help acquire new donors, and retain existing  donors by providing an excellent donor experience, and help increase the office’s efficiency. 

Seva Canada offers a hybrid work environment, and has a casual, dog-friendly office. The Coordinator will work 4 days in the office and one day from home. 

We are looking for an experienced coordinator who is a detail-oriented self-starter eager to join a  dedicated and engaging team that provides an environment of growth and learning.

Donor Relations Responsibilities: 

  • Donor support & donation administration including: processing donations, generating tax  receipts, donor mailings and thank you calls 
  • Managing day-to-day correspondence and fulfilling donor requests  
  • First point of contact for donors in the office and on the phone  
  • Maintaining and updating donor database and Mailchimp  
  • Volunteer management 
  • Fundraising research support for prospects and grants 
  • Formatting proposals, reports and presentations for a variety of audiences 
  • Assisting with events, including Annual General Meeting, World Sight Day, board meetings and 3rd party donor events 
  • Taking on other related duties and projects as required by the team 

Marketing Responsibilities:  

  • Working with the Marketing & Communications Director, the coordinator will be responsible for Seva’s organic social media including strategy, monitoring and evaluation, optimization, creative  development (graphics, reels, stories, and videos), and scheduling  
  • Create social media toolkits for stakeholders and influencers 
  • Stay up to date on social media and marketing trends and provide recommendations 
  • Support the creation and implementation of integrated advertising, influencer, email, and direct  mail campaigns 
  • Liaise with designers, agencies and influencers 
  • Assist in the creation of collateral – catalogues, newsletters, cards, annual reports etc… 
  • Write and proofread blog posts, patient stories, and newsletter content 
  • Review and edit existing web content as well as create and post new 
  • Create and update media and influencer lists  
  • Update and organize photo and story databases  
  • Organize collateral and products

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in fundraising, marketing, or operations/administration
  • Strong time management, planning, and organization skills with ability to prioritize and multi task  
  • Detail-oriented & able to adhere to and maintain administrative procedures
  • Works well with a team and independently 
  • Proven professional experience in social media and/or advertising 
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint Excel, etc…)
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills 
  • Ability to take direction and feedback 
  • Ability to travel internationally 
  • Qualified to work in Canada

Assets: 

  • Experience using donor databases such as ETapestry or other Blackbaud products
  • Creative writing and storytelling skills for print and web 
  • Experience with WordPress websites 
  • Experience creating videos and reels 
  • Experience with digital design tools such as Canva, Affinity or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience in the non-profit sector
  • Interest in international development and learning how a small-to medium charity operates
  • Ability to speak French, Hindi, or Punjabi is a ‘nice to have’

Compensation:

  • $52,000-$60,000 commensurate with skills and experience 
  • Competitive medical and dental benefits package after 3-month probation period
  • 3 weeks’ annual vacation to start
