ABOUT THE ROLE

Action Against Hunger Canada is looking for a dynamic and action-oriented Fundraising Manager, who will be reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and will oversee individual giving and our fundraising events. The Digital Marketing Specialist and Fundraising Assistant report into this role. The main focus of this position is to provide leadership over all individual giving initiatives in the organization, to conceptualize and execute high-quality events and to steward Action Against Hunger’s donor base.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Increase all philanthropic, donor and fundraising revenue generated from individual giving, corporate giving and event-driven fundraising activities to deliver agreed targets.
  • Manage allocated budget in line with objectives and KPIs, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer on income and expenditure and highlight variances in a timely manner and in line with budget forecasting in development-related activities.
  • Manage contracts and vendor relationships to ensure completion of individual giving projects/ investments and/or events.
  • Test, monitor, evaluate and implement existing and new channels that allow two-way engagement with donors.
  • Develop long-term sustainable revenue opportunities from identifying the audiences, channels, products and messages that will maximize effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Develop and manage a process of high-quality donor cultivation, engagement and stewardship.
  • Provide oversight and planning coordination for virtual and in-person events, including the coordination of event teams, volunteers and vendors.
  • Support the process of sponsorship research and sales.
  • Ensure the overall management and functioning of the organization’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform.
  • Contribute to the development of organizational fundraising strategies, individual giving projects, and participate in the annual business planning and budgeting processes.
  • Ensure that sound project cycle management and planning processes are established for all initiatives undertaken.
  • Ensure regular collection and analysis of fundraising data.
  • Participate in the development of appropriate key performance indicators and in the improvement of fundraising tools for the team and Board Members.
  • Proactive preparation of quarterly development committee and board reporting content.
  • Manage, guide and coach direct reports to Ensure all processes related to the employee life cycles are conducted according to Action Against Hunger Canada’s applicable policies including performance management and professional development.
  • Attend planning sessions, team meetings and annual performance reviews as required.
  • Pro-active exchange and collaboration with Action Against Hunger Canada team members and the International Network.
  • Represent Action Against Hunger Canada within relevant fundraising fora in the Action Against Hunger International network.
  • Conduct research and due diligence processes when required for/on potential partnerships with foundations and corporations.
  • Ensure an on-going process of personal professional development and learning.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline.
  • A Master’s degree or Fundraising certification is considered an asset.
  • Five (5) or more years of progressive experience in fundraising with specific experience in individual giving initiatives (previous experience with digital fundraising, face-to-face and telemarketing are considered important assets).
  • Demonstrated budget management experience.
  • Experience with database management (Microsoft Dynamics knowledge is considered an asset).
  • Demonstrated experience managing and implementing digital fundraising.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER ATTRIBUTES

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, planning, problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to take initiative and be proactive.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated interest in international humanitarian/development work and Action Against Hunger’s values.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Gender Equality.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office Applications.
  • Previous experience developing fundraising strategies.
  • Full fluency in French is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience in international development and humanitarian aid is considered an asset.
