Parliamentary Affairs Manager

Results Canada is recruiting a Parliamentary Affairs Manager to join our dedicated team of staff and volunteers. Reporting to the Deputy Executive Director, the Parliamentary Affairs Manager will be responsible for developing parliamentary engagement strategies, building and maintaining relationships with elected officials and supporting our volunteers and staff to engage with their Members of Parliament.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and lead the implementation of Results Canada’s parliamentary engagement advocacy strategy
  • Build sustainable relationships with elected and appointed government officials and staff to promote the mandate of Results Canada
  • Identify and manage engagement with government mechanisms such as the Federal Budget, legislation, petitions, and committee studies
  • Support citizen advocates and staff to engage with their Members of Parliament including through training and tool development
  • Plan and execute parliamentary events including briefings, receptions etc.
  • Work with the policy advocacy team to develop advocacy products and tools to support campaigns on global health, quality education and economic inclusion
  • Track and keep team members informed of relevant political updates
  • Represent Results Canada on relevant working groups and coalitions both domestic and international
  • Manage the contacts database for both staff and citizen advocate interactions with MPs and other government stakeholders including reporting tools
  • Set and track relevant parliamentary engagement metrics for organizational reporting
  • Leads on monthly reporting to the Lobbying commissioner
  • Collaborate with other Results Canada colleagues to support the achievement of broader organizational goals
  • Other duties as required

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum BA in international development/affairs, public policy, public health, political science or other related fields, or experience in a relevant field
  • Experience in advocacy, lobbying or influencing work in Canada
  • Experience with meeting and event coordination
  • Experience writing or designing a strategy (either alone or as part of a team)
  • Experience working or volunteering with volunteers, citizen advocates and/or community groups
  • Excellent organizational skills, goal-oriented and proactive
  • Proven written and oral communications skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Willingness to work irregular hours as required for events, calls etc.

ASSETS

  • Experience working or volunteering with a parliamentarian or political party
  • Experience working in coalitions or networks
  • Bilingual in English and French

TRAVEL

  • Light international and domestic travel required

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Results Canada operates as a hybrid work environment with staff working from home and the Results Canada Ottawa office as required. The Parliamentary Office role must be based in Ottawa or the immediate surrounding area in order to attend in-person events, parliamentary meetings etc.

The salary band is CAD $65,000 to $76,000 and includes a comprehensive benefits package once the successful applicant has passed the probationary period. Results Canada offers four weeks’ vacation plus a five-day office holiday closure in December, a training budget for staff development and a flexible and dynamic work environment.
