Project Officer

The Project Officer is responsible for providing crucial organizational, operational, and communications support in the development and execution of UNA-CSC. This includes, but is not limited to, liaising with existing partners, reaching out to new potential partners and managing the necessary paperwork for each placement. The Project Officer provides the Programme Manager with critical managerial and logistical support in all aspects of UNA-CSC.

The Project Officer will have the following support responsibilities:
• Work closely with UNA-CSC’s Programme Manager to ensure effective and efficient implementation of the Programme;
• Provide leadership in ensuring continued multi-year investment in the programme or related programming:
o Identify, engage and steward other fundraising from governments, corporate sponsors, foundations and other potential funders;
• Responsible for developing a communication strategy to widely promote CSC, its delegates and UNA-Canada;
• Responsible for the design and development of all internal conferences, speaker series, workshops, and other similar session as determined to be required in response to World changes that is requiring the adaptation of the original Government of Canada agreement;
• Responsible for the organization and planification of online conferences and any other activities, with compliance to sanitary restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic;
• Responsible for developing online activities while travel restrictions are still raised;
• Responsible for developing the design and development plus delivery of multiple threeday training session for youth delegates prior to UN conferences;
• Responsible for the planning, logistics, training, assisting and guiding youth delegates to various UN international conferences as per dictate by the signed agreement with the Government of Canada;
• Ensure key indicators and data are recorded, tracked, and analyzed for reporting as per UNA-Canada and Government of Canada requirements and for UNA-Canada general reporting;
o Monthly sampling of key indicators and data are recorded (alumni), tracked, and analyzed for mandatory reporting;
• Assist and support the Programme Manager in the overall effective administrative, coordination, implementation, growth and evaluation of UNA-CSC:
• Build and maintain excellent relations with CSC coalition partners, Government, Canadian universities, and private sector’s partners;
• Maintain knowledge on current trends on government, including federal, sub-national and international, especially on mandates and spending priorities to ensure that funding
opportunities are identified and shared with programme directors/managers/officers and support the pursuit these opportunities; and,
• Network and maintain/enhance relationships with partners from government, the private sector, foundations, universities, civil society organizations, funders, employers, and participants:
o Develop and improve marketing and outreach materials to support external communications;
o Assist in the development of briefing and de-briefing events & materials; and
o Contribute to overall project and UNA-Canada growth

Mandatory Requirements:
• Exceptional skills in administrative, organizational and operational project work;
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a member of a team;
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize competing tasks to meet tight deadlines;
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft computer software (e.g. Excel, Word, and Outlook);
• Good working knowledge of WordPress/WIX and social media platforms (e.g. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram);
• Ability to liaise with Senior levels in the UN sector and Canadian governmental organizations;
• Fluency in English and French;
• The candidate must be based in Canada.


Relevant Qualifications and Experience:
• University degree in Public Administration, Education, International Relations; Political Science, Business, Communications, Environmental Science or related field;
• Experience with Project Management — certification or courses taken will be an asset;
• Communication strategies and best practice principles and proven experience in applying them and achieving results in a complex environment;
• Coaching, teaching and mentoring youth;
• Exceptional writing and editing experience in a fast-paced professional services and/or
business development environment;
• Demonstrated logistical experience;
• Demonstrated skills and experience in recruitment practices, interviewing and candidate assessment;
• Proven skills in the formulation of briefing, debriefing and training workshops;
• A results-oriented approach, with the ability to take responsibility; and,
• Ability/willingness to travel internationally.
