Results Canada: Public Engagement Intern

Location: Ottawa-Gatineau (hybrid) or remote
Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week
Duration: 12 weeks
Compensation: $20.00 per hour

IMPORTANT: This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Program which requires applicants to be aged between 15 and 30 at the beginning of the employment period and be legally entitled to work in Canada. International students are not eligible.

We combine the voices of our volunteers with strategic areas of focus to leverage resources for programs and improved policies that help realize people’s rights to health, education, and economic opportunity. We are looking for someone to join our Public Engagement team who is enthusiastic about supporting and expanding our Canada-wide network of volunteer advocates committed to action and advocacy in pursuit of a world without poverty. The successful candidate understands volunteers – what motivates them, why they act, and how to communicate with them. They are passionate about community organizing and supporting people’s ability to make change happen.

Responsibilities

  • Volunteer Coordination Support
    • Assist with onboarding new volunteers (e.g., preparing welcome packs, scheduling orientations).
    • Maintain up-to-date volunteer records and databases.
  • Event & Program Support
    • Support the planning and delivery of volunteer-led events or activities.
    • Help with setting up, managing logistics, and gathering feedback during events, virtual meetings, etc.
  • Evaluation & Impact
    • Help collect and analyze feedback from volunteers.
    • Contribute to impact reports or case studies showcasing volunteer contributions.
  • Administrative & General Support
    • Attend team meetings, take minutes, and follow up on action items.
    • Assist with creating and maintaining volunteer resources (e.g., guides, FAQs).
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Experience or willingness to learn about advocacy and international development issues.
  • Experience with volunteering and/or knowledge of volunteer management best practices
  • Tech savvy and comfortable working in a digital world.
    • Experience with online platforms like Zoom, Slack, Google Suite is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and oral presentation skills – outgoing motivator and problem-solver.
  • Respect for diversity and commitment to creating an environment that values inclusiveness and respect.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
