ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a unique opportunity to shape Amnesty International’s future work – ensuring gender and diversity is at the core of all of our human rights work and organisational practices. The Senior Advisor, Gender and Diversity Mainstreaming will lead and facilitate effective gender and diversity mainstreaming initiatives across Amnesty International – from a capacity-building, programmatic, and organizational perspective – within its Secretariat, national entities, and leadership governance structures. This role reports to the Senior Director of Research, Advocacy and Policy and will provide leadership on gender and diversity mainstreaming under the strategic goal covering gender and non-discrimination in the current strategic plan. This is particularly relevant as Amnesty is due to adopt its new long-term global strategy in 2021. In particular, over the next 12 months, you will be expected to provide analysis, practical guidance and support on how gender and diversity aims can be achieved within the organisation – especially within Amnesty’s programming, planning, monitoring and evaluation approach, project management processes, and capacity-building programmes to implement the new strategy. Finally, as a member of the Gender & Diversity community within Amnesty, you will also be expected to have significant expert knowledge in at least one policy area that addresses gendered anti-discrimination, intersectional analysis, and the ways that human rights abuses are underpinned by intersecting inequalities.
