Reports To: Senior Editor, Fundraising & Editorial Content

Location: Hybrid Toronto (Mount Pleasant and Eglinton Avenue East)

Status: Full-time, Permanent

The Position

As Senior Editor of Fundraising & Editorial Content, you’ll be at the heart of our mission, crafting multi-platform content that fuels our fundraising efforts and deepens our audience’s connection to our work in service of children. You’ll inspire people to lean in, learn more, and take action.

Working closely with our team of writers and designers, you’ll shape content that doesn’t just engage—it moves people. You’ll use your editorial expertise to help build a community of passionate supporters who share our vision and values. It’s more than content creation; it’s about telling stories that spark change.

What success looks like?

  • Craft Stories That Matter: Create compelling multi-platform content across channels—emails, newsletters, impact reports, videos, digital content, and more—that invites donors to be part of something bigger. You won’t just create the content, though—you’ll also help shape and execute the strategy to promote it across key channels, ensuring it reaches and resonates with the right audiences.
  • Master Digital Marketing Channels: Leverage your deep understanding of digital content marketing strategies and best practices to create content that thrives across various platforms—social media, email campaigns, websites, and beyond. Your expertise will ensure that our content not only captures attention but also drives engagement, donations, and long-term support.
  • Data-Driven Storytelling/Audience Connection: Analyze content performance metrics to understand what resonates most with our audiences, from first-time donors to long-time supporters. Use this data to refine your content strategy and ensure we’re always delivering content that not only engages but drives action.
  • Innovate & Inspire: Bring fresh, creative ideas to the table. Find new ways to communicate the impact of our work and engage our audience on a deeper level.
  • Lead the Editorial Charge: Collaborate with team members to elevate content, ensuring it’s high-quality, on brand, and emotionally powerful and engaging.
  • Brand Voice & Consistency: Help evolve and enliven the voice of Plan International Canada, ensuring every piece of content reflects our mission and impact.
  • Seize Content Opportunities: Discover powerful stories within our organization, translating them into meaningful narratives that drive donations and deepen engagement.
  • Program Integrity: Ensure every story we tell reflects the true impact of our work globally, with sensitivity to the unique cultural and power dynamics at play in international development.
  • Innovation & Efficiency: Lead the way in content innovation—whether it’s experimenting with new formats or improving processes to make our work smarter and more effective.

As Our Ideal Candidate You Will Have

  • You have 8+ years of experience in communications, content strategy, fundraising communications, marketing, journalism, publishing—or something similar. You’re a pro at transforming complex ideas into clear, concise, and captivating content.
  • You’re an editorial creative, always thinking about what audiences want and how to deliver it in a way that excites and engages.
  • You know how to tell stories that inspire action—through words, images, audio, or video. You also understand the importance of storytelling across all parts of the communications and marketing funnel.
  • You’ve got exceptional project management skills and thrive in fast-paced environments where multiple deadlines are the norm.
  • Collaboration is your middle name! You love working across teams and influencing others to create a cohesive, powerful narrative.
  • Diversity and inclusion matter to you. You’re committed to creating content that resonates with diverse audiences and ensuring the voices we amplify are authentic and respectful.
  • You’re always on the pulse of what’s next in publishing and digital content, and you can’t wait to push boundaries and explore new possibilities.
  • Most importantly, you’re deeply passionate about social justice, children’s rights, and equality for girls.
