Pregnant adolescents with perinatal depression face several hurdles to receiving the care they need. An implementation research team led by the University of Ibadan in Nigeria, has been working with health care providers to integrate mental health services at primary health care level to address perinatal depression and improve parenting skills.
CanWaCH hosted this webinar to discuss and learn about what the research team has uncovered about the characteristics of adolescents with perinatal depression in Nigeria, how they are supporting pregnant women and adolescents in particular with perinatal depression and the lessons they are learning from this important initiative.
This research is part of the Innovating for Maternal and Child health in Africa (IMCHA) Initiative, a joint partnership between the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Global Affairs Canada and the International Development Research Centre.
