Recordings: Gender Equality Week 2023 Webinar Series

As we marked Canada’s annual Gender Equality Week in September, CanWaCH hosted a three part webinar series focused on some of today’s most pertinent and challenging issues in GE. Thank you to everyone who joined us. You can view the recordings below:

September 13: Integrating Gender Equality to Humanitarian Action

On September 13 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. EDT, join CanWaCH to discuss the integration of gender equality / gender transformative programming in humanitarian action. Focusing on how to better bridge the gaps in this work, this session will feature examples from both global and domestic responses to highlight practical tools and recommendations, and make the case for why humanitarian response needs to be gender transformative regardless of where it is. In particular, this session will explore how data can be used to inform, shape and support the integration of gender transformative programming in humanitarian action and leverage this information during existing interventions and for future disaster preparedness planning.

September 20: Unpaid Care Work as a Cause and Consequence of Gender Inequality: The Impact on Women and Girls’ Education

On September 20 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. EDT, join CanWaCH to discuss the impact of unpaid care work on women and girls’ access to education, and further explore the intersections that exist between SDG 5, gender equality, and SDG 4, inclusive and quality education for all. The panel will also consider the key tools needed to transform the care economy in order to create transformative change for both gender equality and inclusive and quality education for all.

September 27: Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV): Tools and Best Practices to “Do No Harm”

On September 27 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. EDT, join CanWaCH to discuss strategies, tools and best practices to address and prevent TFGBV through multiple approaches and at different levels. This session will provide a multi-sectoral approach, sharing diverse perspectives on how different organizations balance working towards closing the gender digital divide and prioritizing women’s agency in online spaces while ensuring their protection.
