Description

Education is a human right for all but unfortunately 33 million children residing in the continent of Africa are out of school. The most affected are those from rural areas, orphaned children and from poor family backgrounds. Sadly, girls account for the highest numbers of children out of school because of cultural oppression, early childhood marriage and being forced to stay home to take on family duties. Without education, young girls become mothers at a young age when forced into early childhood marriages, face the plight of HIV/AIDS, gender based violence and shorter life expectancy. SAE’s education program supports both boys and girls between grades 1-11 to promote and ensure all have equal access to education. Many times these children end up living on the streets, dying at a young age due to sickness and disease or left to survive on their own with no help from family and or their communities. The sponsorship covers school fees payment, donating educational aids to schools, stationery, uniforms, shoes as well as covering extra curriculum activities for after school.
