Description


This project is a contribution to the joint donor Education Sector Support Fund (FASE), which supports the Ministry of Education and Human Development to provide children and adults in Mozambique with access to quality education and literacy programs so that they learn and succeed in their education. Canada is one of nine donors to FASE. This project enables the education ministry to implement annual activities such as: (1) constructing approximately 500 classrooms; (2) providing school grants/resources to over 13,000 schools; (3) providing approximately 13 million textbooks; (4) training 6,500 teachers; (5) supporting district and provincial authorities to supervise school operations and management; (6) providing adult literacy programs; and (7) implementing sexual and reproductive health and HIV/AIDS prevention programs in schools.

Expected Results


The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) improved access to education for over 6.5 million school-aged children, half of whom are girls; (2) improved quality of education for over 6.5 million girls and boys; and (3) improved sexual and reproductive health and rights for girls in the education system, including reduced gender-based violence in schools.
