IDRF in partnership with Sawaed for Relief and Development (SARD) will be providing access to essential potable water for over 17,335 beneficiaries across the Gaza strip. Water quality testing conducted by the Palestinian Water Authority (PWA) and the Coastal Municipalities Water Utility (CMWU) found an overabundance of chloride and nitrate levels. Groundwater pollution across the Gaza Strip is caused by high levels of chloride and nitrogen, as well as high salinity, mostly a result of fertilizer use and wastewater seepage into the main water reservoir. Extremely high levels of water contamination can result in serious health complications. The goal of this project is to improve the health and quality of life for selected project beneficiaries though the provision of safe potable drinking water.
