Description

This project aims to support inclusive participation for ongoing peace talks in Afghanistan, focusing on the active and meaningful engagement of women. Balanced representation of women in current peace talks is extremely low among stakeholders. The outcomes of peace talks are expected to ultimately impact the future of the country, significantly affecting future conditions for women, adolescent girls and girls. This project seeks to increase access, capacity, and skills of women partaking in peace processes, while also working towards supporting receptive environments for women’s active participation. Project activities include: (1) organizing and conducting multi-stakeholder meetings and events; (2) providing capacity building and mentorship on peace negotiation skills; (3) providing flexible funding, coordination and logistical support for participants to access formal and informal peace talks; (4) producing and disseminating best practice materials; and (5) building a network to advocate for inclusive peace processes in Afghanistan, both national and internationally.
