With CIDA support, Islamic Relief Canada is helping to provide basic food rations (including cereals, flour, sugar, and oil) to 5,000 vulnerable drought and conflict-affected households (estimated 40,000 people) in the Bay and Bakool regions of Somalia for six months, thereby reducing the risk of acute malnutrition, particularly amongst pregnant women and young children.
Expected Results Include: 5,000 vulnerable drought and conflict-affected households have improved access to adequate supplies of basic food rations. The expected intermediate outcome is reduced vulnerability of crisis-affected people, especially women and children.
