This project aims to improve sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) for vulnerable adolescent girls and boys through an adolescent-friendly approach focused on preventing and reducing unwanted pregnancies, HIV/AIDS and sexual and gender-based violence. Project activities include: (1) strengthening SRHR healthcare services through capacity development of health networks; (2) mobilizing adolescent groups and organizations to improve their awareness and capacity to engage on SRHR issues; and (3) improving the policy and operational environment at subnational levels for preventing unwanted pregnancies, HIV/AIDS and sexual and gender-based violence. The initiative is implemented by UNICEF, as part of their Bolivia country program, in collaboration with Save the Children.
The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) improved quality of adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) services for the prevention of unwanted pregnancies, sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) and HIV/AIDS, ensuring services are gender and culturally sensitive and adolescent-friendly; (2) enhanced decision-making power and gender equality among vulnerable youth and adolescent girls and boys to prevent unwanted pregnancies, SGBV and HIV/AIDS; and (3) strengthened enabling environment for vulnerable youth and adolescent girls and boys to meaningfully exercise their rights to gender equality and SRHR.
