This project aims to reduce impunity for violence against women in elections in Zimbabwe (VAWIE) during the 2018 elections and beyond through a comprehensive approach to: (1) reliably monitor and document violence against women in elections; (2) offer rapid response assistance and resilience for its survivors; and (3) activate justice sector responses by enabling prosecution of violence against women in elections crimes and reporting on VAWIE human rights violations.
The expected outcome for this project includes: increased VAWIE information collection and dissemination by trained civil society organizations to support election stakeholders (such as communities, media, police, National Prosecuting Agency and electoral commission) in the design of measures to prevent electoral violence against women and girls.
