Across Gaza, many children have lost access to formal education under the state of emergency caused by the Coronavirus pandemic, and only few children have access to informal education and cultural services. Thus, there is an increasing need for psychosocial and recreational services. The proposed project entitled “Explore, Learn and Enjoy”, seeks to help vulnerable children improve their knowledge, life-skills, learning and problem-solving capacities, as well as, improve their self-confidence through participating in an array of extracurricular educational, cultural and recreational activities offered to children inside a safe environment. This project is an extension of the A.M. Qattan Foundation’s (AMQF) Child Centre work with children who lack such services. The CCG offers children a safe environment, in which they participate in organized activities to read, socialize, learn, and express themselves freely and creatively. Around 4,910 children between 6-15 years of age will benefit from the project’s activities, which include cultural and reading activities, visual arts, science and IT. IDRF’s contribution will go towards most of the procurement needs for this project, in addition to covering the costs of publishing a literary journal written by children and featuring their drawings, and lastly, the transportation costs for selected project beneficiaries. The A.M. Qattan Foundation will cover trainers’ fees for the library activities, and the salaries for Science, Art and IT staff.
Improved quality of cultural, reading, science, IT and artistic services for 4,910 direct and 10,000 indirect project beneficiaries.
