This project aims to increase gender equality and empowerment of diverse women and girls in Latin America. The project strengthens the effectiveness of women’s rights organizations and other key actors in working together to maintain and advance the gender equality agenda, including the integration of gender equality into the policies, laws and initiatives of member states of the Organization of American States (OAS). The project also supports the Inter-American Working Group on Women’s Empowerment and Leadership to increase coordination and collaboration between key inter-American and UN organizations to advance collective advocacy work promoting greater equality and empowerment for women and girls, in line with regional and international commitments. Project activities include: (1) conducting more analysis and research to disseminate evidence-based information on gender equality; (2) training on policy advocacy, collaborative action and strategic communications; and (3) developing and implementing an advocacy strategy and facilitating dialogue between women’s rights organizations, national machineries and research institutions. The project also provides tools for the permanent missions of the Organization of American States to integrate gender analysis and provide technical support on policy dialogue for the national apparatus to promote and implement gender equality commitments.
