This project aims to reduce illness and death among mothers, newborns and children in the province of Zambezia, the second most populous province with some of the highest maternal and child mortality and morbidity rates in Mozambique. The project aims to work directly with the Zambezia Provincial Directorate of Health to expand health services and improve the quality of care available to mothers, newborns and children. The project seeks to help the Zambezia Provincial Directorate of Health to better respond to the health needs of mothers, newborns and children, promote better health for mothers and higher survival rates for children, and reduce deaths from infectious diseases. The project also seeks to improve the management capacity of the Provincial Directorate so that it functions more efficiently, effectively and sustainably over the long term.
