Description

The project will improve the quality of education and enhance the educational achievement of 500 school students annually who are experiencing academic challenges. The project has two different interventions: The first intervention will provide remedial classes to 500 children annually who have learning difficulties, and their educational achievement level is below 65%. This will include producing educational games, educational trips, active learning tools for remedial classes, and refreshing workshops for teachers and students on how to use them, in addition to meetings with parents and teachers, honouring ceremony for children, and peer to peer support to direct and encourage students within the educational processes.

This will also include enhancing the enrolled children’s psychosocial status via interventions, such as individual counselling, group counselling, referrals, expressive art, drama as therapy, which will be funded by other donors.

The second intervention will be using the art for education and advocacy through child-led activities; this will include life skills training, leadership, creative writing, and child-led advocacy, which will allow them to participate publicly through their art productions and activities. In addition to conducting child-led academic research, child-led conference day, and live the future careers, which will help build the children’s confidence and empower them.

The project will continue with the previous project’s precaution procedures due to the Coronaviruses’ conditions. Activities will be conducted either in centers on grounds or online if there is a need to stay at home to protect the target group’s safety.

The four children centers, Nowwar center, Al-Shorouq Wal-Amal centers 1&2, Bunat Al-Ghad center, located in Khan Younis, will implement the project, either on ground or online, over 12 months. The project comes after the tremendous success of the IDRF project implementation for the last years. Children and their parents’ recommendation was to implement such activities to enhance children’s educational performances, especially in the harsh economic and social conditions imposed on them.
